WASHINGTON • Democrats and civil rights groups are trying to raise turnout among African-American voters around the country Tuesday by invoking a familiar and painful image: Ferguson.

The civil rights group ColorofChange.org said Monday it has distributed fliers to black voters in seven states, including Illinois, with a photo of protests in Ferguson overwritten by the headline, “Enough.” (more…)
Another suspected (non-insured) Ebola patient is receiving expensive, time consuming medical attention after landing at Newark International Airport on Friday, clearing US Border and Customs Inspection and taking a long bus ride from New Jersey to a relative’s home in North Carolina before spiking a fever and contacting the CDC which triggered the hospital admission:
“….A male patient, age unknown, was transported today to Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, and is being tested this evening for Ebola virus infection.
The individual flew into Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday after traveling from Liberia through an unknown destination, then traveled to the Durham area on a commercial bus, according Aldona Wos, MD, secretary of the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
On Saturday, the individual was picked up by a relative and taken to the family’s home in Person County, north of Durham. After spiking a fever this morning, temperature unknown, the individual was transported to Duke Hospital and is currently isolated in a contained unit designated previous during training as the site for treatment of a potential Ebola patient.

Senator Kay Hagan holds a razor thin margin over her Republican challenger, Thom Tillis. Senator Kay Hagan was recently outlined in a nepotism scandal regarding her family business profiting off her stimulus vote. The North Carolina media have curiously avoided discussing the initial scandal….. then last night they published an article outlining a recommendation of “further legal investigation”… and then, quickly scrubbed it. They are being called to task.
(Via National Review) Republicans accused the Charlotte Observer of engaging in a “conspiracy of silence” after it pulled its story about a state government memo calling for “legal review” of stimulus grants given to the family of Senator Kay Hagan (D., N.C.).

Screenshot of the now “disappeared” article – still on google cache.
“It’s time to end the conspiracy of silence in the North Carolina media on Senator Kay Hagan’s ‘stimulus’ payday,” the state party chairman, Claude Pope, said in a Sunday statement. “The freedom of the press is a sacred trust – and hiding the truth is tantamount to lying to the people that they, and Senator Hagan, are supposed to serve.” (more…)

Great article at Canada Free Press – […] Mary Mallon, “the most dangerous woman in America” was born in Ireland and later worked as a cook for wealthy families in New York.
She was the first known carrier of typhoid fever in the USA, and although without any symptoms, she was still contagious and continued to spread the disease to at least 53 persons (who spread it to others), three of whom died.
It is thought she infected 50 others who died but it could not be determined since she changed her name so often. She refused to stop working as a cook and was confined to a hospital where she died 20 years later.
Mary worked as a cook from 1900 to 1907 in New York City area and within two weeks of her employment, residents developed typhoid fever. Then she moved to New York City where members of the family for whom she worked developed fever and diarrhea, and the laundress died.
Mallon then went to work for a lawyer; she quit after seven of the eight people in that household became ill. She took other positions in Long Island, and left a trail of infection everywhere. She always resigned when family members became ill. (more…)
WASHINGTON – Deputy National Security Adviser and MFA in creative writing Ben Rhodes likened an Iranian nuclear deal to Obamacare in a talk to progressive activists last January, according to audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon (below).
The remarks, made at a since-discontinued regular meeting of White House personnel and representatives of liberal interest groups, reveal the importance of a rapprochement with Iran to President Obama, who is looking to establish his legacy as his presidency enters its lame-duck phase.

The erosion of state’s rights, and the triumph of optics over common sense continues:
FORT KENT Maine (Reuters) – Declaring Ebola fears in the United States “not entirely rational,” a judge rejected Maine’s bid for a quarantine on a nurse who treated victims of the disease in West Africa but tested negative for it, and instead imposed limited restrictions.

Two days ago Attorney General Eric Holder protested leaks from within the investigation of Ferguson; he said “they need to shut up“. {{*nudge, nudge, wink, wink*}}
Following Holder’s protestations, less than a few hours passed before Trymaine Lee was the recipient of more DOJ leaks saying the DOJ intended to “shake up” the Ferguson Police Department.
This ‘do-as-we-say’ approach follows the New York Times outlining DOJ leaks showcasing a non-existent case, and aligned with CNN outlining more DOJ leaks claiming the intention of Eric Holder to deconstruct the entire Police Department.

Of course all of this conflicting DOJ-led reporting is annoying for the police chief, mayor, city council and government officials in and around Ferguson Missouri, and prosecutors in Saint Louis who have retained security of the evidence and have NOT been leaking information to the media.
As Police Chief Thomas Jackson told CNN yesterday, Eric Holder -or any representative acting on his behalf- has not talked to a single person in government of Ferguson, nor conducted a single interview. Quite the opposite, neither he, the major, city council, nor anyone from any agency have talked to these mysterious federal officials that Eric Holder is now claiming are making decisions about what is to take place. Allow me to present the counter point after John Kerry’s initial point:
(CNSNews.com) – Secretary of State John Kerry argued Thursday that the United States cannot push its weight around in a changing and “complicated” world, and implied that the previous administration having done so had led to today’s security crisis in Iraq.
In an appearance at the Washington Ideas Forum, Kerry said that although the Obama administration wanted to see a less sectarian government in Iraq – a prerequisite for tackling the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL) threat – it could not have simply demanded that former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki be replaced.
“The United States couldn’t just crash in and say, ‘Hey, you’re out. Here are the guys that are in.’ That’s not our – it would be playing into all of the worst stereotypes that have brought us to the difficulties we’re living with today.” (link)
