Epic Liberalism in Punditry: CNN's Michael Smerconish Edition…

Jumpin’ Ju-Ju bones, check out the level of Moonbattery in this exhibit.

CNN’s Michael Smerconish affirming government mandated health insurance by comparison to mandated Home and Auto insurance required by the underwriting lender:

Holy Cats !  Have Pennsylvania liberals really reached that level of cognitive dissonance?
The requirement to take out mortgage insurance policy, or an auto-insurance policy is directly related to the loan underwriter, the private bank or financial institution, mandating you insure them against the risk of loss. You agree to the loan terms.
If you want a loan for the product (house or car), you must insure the lender against catastrophic loss (fire, accident etc.), or your own default on the loan.  In the auto example the state can also demand coverage in the event your behavior with the vehicle produces catastrophic loss to another (ie. uninsured motorist).
This has nothing to do with government forced insurance coverage of your own body or physical health – UNLESS the progressive argument extends to: the government underwrites or loans you your personage; ie. the government owns your physical body.
Is that what Smerconish is arguing here?

Freedom Watch Notifies Congress of "Deep State" Intelligence Whistle-Blower – full pdf…

Freedom Watch notifies congress of a “Deep State” intelligence community whistle blower, Dennis Montgomery, with hundreds of millions of documents showing CIA and FBI and Intelligence Committees were spying on, and conducting surveillance on, American citizens for political purposes.
Mr. Montgomery is trying to use a legal “whistle-blower” process and not follow the same approach as Edward Snowden.

Chairman Devin Nunes: Post Trump Debrief on Surveillance Discovery – Press Conference

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes conducts a press conference following his debrief with President Trump discussing the surveillance of the Trump transition team by former President Obama’s intelligence community.
[Alternate Video Backup HERE]

[…]  I briefed the president on the concerns that I had about incidental collection and how it relates to President-Elect Trump and his transition team; and the concerns that I have. As I said earlier, there will be more information hopefully by Friday.  The NSA is cooperating very very well; and lastly, I’ll say that the reports that I was able to see did not have anything to do with Russia or the Russian investigation or any tie to the Trump team.

Question: Why is it appropriate for you to brief President Trump?

Intel Chairman Devin Nunes: President-Elect Trump Was Under Surveillance By Obama Intel Community…

The House Intelligence Committee Chairman, Devin Nunes, held a brief press conference (video also included below) at approximately 1:00pm EDT and stated he has been provided intelligence reports brought to him by unnamed sources include ‘significant information’ about President-Elect Trump and his transition team.

1.) …”On numerous occasions the [Obama] intelligence community incidentally collected information about U.S. citizens involved in the Trump transition.”

2.)  “Details about U.S. persons associated with the incoming administration; details with little or no apparent foreign intelligence value were widely disseminated in intelligence community reporting.”

3.) “Third, I have confirmed that additional names of Trump transition members were unmasked.”

4.) “Fourth and finally, I want to be clear; none of this surveillance was related to Russia, or the investigation of Russian activities, or of the Trump team.

Laura Ingraham Discusses James Comey and Mike Rogers Testimony…

The UniParty Congressional Swamp's Meaningless Political FBI/NSA Hearing…

The Congressional Intelligence Committee  hearing today was everything we anticipated it would be.  Which is to say it was: insufferable political posturing, pandering and circular parseltongue swirling the drain of non-intellectual gobbledygook.
These types of congressional hearings are perfect feed pellets for media pundits to blather endlessly, wax philosophically, and engage in long-winded academic esoteric analyses contrasting the implied meanings of stop signs.  However, they are ridiculous for all other purposes.
That said, against the backdrop of the espoused intention, and with full acceptance of the historic UniParty Benghazi hearings driven intentionally into the pit of nothingness, prayerfully I’m not the only person who noted that not a single congressional panelist asked Director James Comey or NSA Mike Rogers if they personally were the person who unmasked the identity of General Mike Flynn in the “intelligence intercepts”.

Yes, that’s correct.  There is only ONE KNOWN Factual and CRIMINAL activity currently identified: the unmasking and leaking of Mike Flynn’s name to the media.
Yet not a single congressional intelligence committee member would ask Rogers or Comey -under oath- if they were the source of: A) “The Unmasking”, and/or B) “The Leaking”.
Stop for a moment and think about that glaring an intentional non inquiry against the expressed intention of the purpose of the committee.

Senate Confirms Mike Pompeo as CIA Director…

The Senate has just voted to confirm Representative Mike Pompeo as CIA Director.  This represents the third intelligence and security nomination confirmed –  General Kelly (DHS) and General Mattis (DoD) receiving earlier confirmations.

WASHINGTON – The Senate has confirmed Rep. Mike Pompeo, a Kansas Republican, to be President Donald Trump’s CIA director.  The vote tally is 66-32, with a significant number of Democrats voting no. Two senators are delayed by weather. (link)

Two republican senators Tom Cotton (Yes) and Rand Paul (No) outline the dynamic within the overall DC intelligence outlook from the GOP.  Neither are 100% correct; each distinct outlook has both merit and concern.
In the space between the two Senators, we can identify the fundamental position of President Trump toward this nomination.  The “deep state” is dangerous, even when it is necessary; however, liberty must not be sacrificed upon the alter of security.

Baltimore Six – Federal Judge Allows Malicious Prosecution Case Against Marilyn Mosby To Proceed…

Interesting development in the aftermath of the Baltimore Six trials in the death of Freddie Gray.   A federal judge, Marvin J Garbis, has allowed a “malicious prosecution and defamation” lawsuit against Baltimore Prosecutor Marilyn Mosby to proceed.
mosby you mad broMs. Mosby’s position was that she held absolute prosecutorial immunity from actions taken as a state’s attorney.
Under normal prosecutorial constructs her office would most likely be correct. However, the judge rightly pointed out that Mosby conducted an independent investigation using her office for more than just prosecution:

“Plaintiffs’ malicious prosecution claims relate to her actions when functioning as an investigator and not as a prosecutor,” Garbis wrote. –link

You might remember, almost all of the initial findings -used to construct the original charging documents against the Baltimore officers- stemmed from Ms. Mosby’s own independent investigation of fact.
It appears Marilyn Mosby’s independent approach, to ensure the officer’s arrests and prosecution, could now be her own undoing.  Judge Garbis attaches direct liability to her for actions, behaviors and decisions she exclusively controlled.
All claims against the state were dismissed by Garbis, but the claims against Ms. Mosby will go forward:

Defense Rests – Officer Michael Slager Testifies in His Own Defense…

The trial of officer Michael Slager (Walter Scott shooting) ended today with Officer Slager as the last witness testifying in his own defense.  The defense rests, and the case is now set for the jury deliberation phase.  The instructions to the jury will be critical…

SOUTH CAROLINA – Throughout the trial of Michael Slager, defense attorneys have asked the jury to consider the death of Walter Scott and the events that led to his shooting from the perspective of the former North Charleston officer. On Tuesday, after hearing from 17 witnesses for the defense, jurors were given the clearest image of what went through Slager’s mind on April 4, 2015, as he took the stand.

Here We Go Again – Activist Minnesota Prosecutor Charges Officer Without Grand Jury…

Following the path of Angela Corey (Sanford/Zimmerman) and Marilyn Mosby (Baltimore/Freddie Gray), a Minnesota activist prosecutor named John Choi has made the decision to charge Officer Jeronimo Janez with 3rd degree manslaughter in the shooting case of Philando Castile, without going to a grand jury (pdf complaint below).
The explanation by Choi is quite astonishing, and reflects a rogue decision to satisfy, yet again, the social justice crowd while wasting taxpayer money:
Minnesota – The use of deadly force by a St. Anthony police officer was determined to be unjustified in the shooting death of Philando Castile.  Ramsey County Attorney John Choi made the announcement during a news conference Wednesday morning.
john-choi-1jeronimo-janez
Choi began his announcement by saying that after spending 19 weeks “immersed in the facts and law and thinking about what justice requires in the case,” he said he decided it would be wrong to ask a grand jury to make a decision regarding the case.
He said although he knows some members of the community may not be pleased with such a decision, he said “in order to achieve justice, we must be willing to do the right thing no matter how hard it may seem.”
