U.S District Judge Dabney Friedrich has ruled the CDC has exceeded its authority with the federal ban on evictions during the COVID response. [pdf ruling HERE]

The issue at the heart of the matter is one of private property rights.  As the judge stated: “The question for the Court is a narrow one – “Does the Public Health Service Act grant the CDC the legal authority to impose a nationwide eviction moratorium? It does not.”

(WASHINGTON) – Federal Judge Dabney Friedrich struck down on Wednesday the national eviction moratorium, potentially leaving millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has banned most evictions across the country since September. President Joe Biden extended that protection to renters until July. Some 1 in 5 renters across the U.S. are behind on their payments amid the pandemic, and states are scrambling to disburse more than $45 billion in rental assistance. (read more)

If you are into the political weeds, specifically the Machiavellian aspects to the deepest political weeds, there’s an interesting article in The Hill today with quotes from people very close to GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy.

Essentially, the nub of it is that GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney is about to get removed from her leadership position due to her continued antagonism of the MAGA supporters and President Trump.

After Cheney’s latest round of attacks against Trump and his supporters McCarthy is no longer going to defend Cheney from a frustrated republican caucus ready to get rid of her.

Cheney is likely to be voted out of leadership by the end of the month, depending on the timing of the next GOP conference assembly.

WASHINGTON – Top allies of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) are vowing to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), one of the harshest critics of former President Trump in either party, from her leadership post by the end of the month.

They argue that the No. 3 Republican has repeatedly contradicted McCarthy and his team, undermining the party’s message and its efforts to take back the House majority in next year’s midterm elections.

“There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month’s end,” one key McCarthy ally told The Hill on Monday. “When there is a vote, it won’t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.” (read more)

The list of possible replacements for Liz Cheney includes Elise Stefanik (NY) and Jackie Walorski (Ind); both would be good replacements.  Walorski was a wolverine against the Obama administration during the VA scandal, and Stefanik was a loyal MAGA ally during the impeachment effort.  However, due to the depth of the swamp I would emphasize the need to keep a close eye on either.

Dave Hunt represented Clackamas County in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2003 through 2013. Hunt was the former Democratic Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker of the House for the State of Oregon. As a legislator, Hunt the sponsor of a bill criminalizing sex trafficking in 2007.  Hunt is currently a lobbyist working to influence the very chamber he left.

However, even more ironic in 2011, Dave Hunt use his position to support and vote for HB 2714.  That bill created the crime of commercial sexual solicitation, the exact crime police used to charge Hunt when he was arrested and cited.

OREGON – Former Oregon House Speaker and current Clackamas Community College board member Dave Hunt was cited by Portland police in an undercover sex traffic sting operation in April. Contacted by the Portland Tribune on Monday, May 3, Hunt said, “I don’t think I should talk about that.”

Hunt’s attorney, Micheal De Munis, said, “Mr. Hunt denies the allegations, but respects the criminal justice process and will refrain from saying more until he has his opportunity in court.”

Clackamas Community College said Hunt was taking a leave from the board.

As a legislator, Hunt was one of numerous sponsors of a bill criminalizing sex trafficking in 2007. In 2011, he also voted for HB 2714, that bill created the crime of commercial sexual solicitation, the crime for which he was arrested and cited.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo held a press conference today pondering why the number of people in the state taking the COVID vaccine is dropping even with increased availability.  As he discussed the 16-25 year old age group not taking the vaccine; and in an effort to convince them to comply with the vaccine request; Cuomo  said:

“maybe you go home and kiss your grandmother, and wind up killing your grandmother“…

Charlie Crist is the mirror image of Nikki Haley (and both wear heels).

According to news media in/around Tampa, Florida, Charlie Crist is likely to announce a bid to run for governor against incumbent governor Ron DeSantis.

Something is happening in the background for Fox News to give permission (perhaps instructions) to Tucker Carlson to be able to do this.

Well, this takes governmental threats to an entirely new level.  Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has just proclaimed that she will not permit a return to liberty and freedom for Michiganders until they submit to the COVID vaccination.

The outline is HERE, but the essential elements are in the graphic below.  Governor Whitmer will not lift the most intrusive mandates until seventy percent of Michigan citizens submit themselves to get the non-FDA-approved COVID vaccine.  LOOK:

♦ If 55% of Michiganders (4,453,304 residents) get the shot, after two weeks Whitmer will allow in-person work for all sectors of business.

♦ If 60% of Michiganders (4,858,150 residents) get the shot, after two more weeks:

•Whitmer will increase indoor capacity at sports stadiums to 25%.
•Increase indoor capacity at conference centers/banquet halls/funeral homes to 25%.
•Increase capacity at exercise facilities and gyms to 50%.
·Lift the curfew on restaurants and bars.

♦ If 65% of Michiganders (5,262,996 residents) get the shot, after two more weeks Whitmer will:

No crowds ever attended his rallies.  There was no crowd at his installation.  There are no views for his on-line speeches.  The audience for his regular speeches are non-existent.  Far fewer viewers at home.  An empty chamber for his speech (COVID), and yet we are to believe he received 81 million votes.
