(Via The Blaze)  […]  A source with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to TheBlaze on Monday that Bergin has, in fact, been suspended over his remarks about the black community and may end up being fired. The source said Bergin was asked not to come in Monday and Tuesday as the news station figures out how to handle the situation.
News 12, a network of news stations serving various areas mostly in New York and New Jersey, did not return messages left by TheBlaze on Monday.
Here’s what Bergin said on the air (the politically incorrect part is around @2:00):

“We were besieged, flooded with calls from police officers furious that we would give media coverage to the life of a cop killer. It’s understandable. We decided to air it because it’s important to shine a light on the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities. This same, sick, perverse line of thinking is evident from Jersey City, to Newark and Patterson to Trenton.”
“It has made the police officer’s job impossible and it has got to stop. The underlying cause of all of this, of course: young black men growing up without fathers. Unfortunately, no one in the news media has the courage to touch that subject.”  (link for more)

And that moment of brutal honesty cost him his job.  But Eric Holder says “we’re a nation of cowards” when it comes to race.   Gee, go figure, I wonder why..

This question highlights the actual substance of the policy issue.

…Illegal immigrants are being secretly flown to Massachusetts and kept in local lockups in an under-the-radar operation that has alarmed lawmen who are raising health and security concerns amid recent spikes in detainees coming up from Texas during the latest border crisis.
“We’re all becoming border sheriffs now with these people being carted all over the country,” said Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson… “The blame goes all the way up. It’s a travesty and people ought to be upset,” Hodgson said. “This is un-American and has raised the stakes to the public health and public safety threat.”
…On the receiving end of the buses from Hodgson’s facility was Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald Jr., who said he’s seen a jump in illegal immigrants arriving at his jail and had to deal with “scenarios where we’ve had 100-plus detainees coming in at the same time.”… (more…)

Her family suggested that she carry a gun for protection. She took a gun safety course, applied for and was granted a concealed carry permit, and bought a gun.

TREMONTON, Utah – Authorities have arrested a 47-year-old Utah man they say wanted to kill police officers and blow up a police department with the hope it would cause an uprising against the government.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Utah said in a statement late Friday that FBI agents and police in Tremonton arrested John Huggins on Thursday.
FBI Special Agent Steven Cadiz says in court documents that Huggins built an improvised explosive device and possessed explosive materials and instructions for making bombs.

(Reason.com via iOTW) A mother in Bristol, Connecticut, was charged with leaving a child unsupervised in a car Wednesday. How old was the helpless tyke?
Eleven.
Why was she in the car? She asked her mom if she could stay there.
Was she in danger of boiling to death? According to WFSB:

When officers opened the car doors, they said the child was responsive and not in distress, and that the car was not “excessively hot.”

In other words, the 11-year-old girl was indisputably fine. Not overheated, not abandoned, not upset—nothing.
So don’t just ask why the mom was charged with a crime, ask why is this a crime?  Why does the law get to decide how a mom should raise her kids? Why does the law treat a self-sufficient 11 year old as a helpless forsaken baby? Why does the law allow cops to harass tweens and moms just going about their day?  (continue reading)
