(UK Independent) While the Assad regime in Damascus has denied responsibility for the sarin gas missiles that killed around 1,400 Syrians in the suburb of Ghouta on 21 August, information is now circulating in the city that Russia’s new “evidence” about the attack includes the dates of export of the specific rockets used and – more importantly – the countries to which they were originally sold.
They were apparently manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1967 and sold by Moscow to three Arab countries, Yemen, Egypt and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s Libya. These details cannot be verified in documents, and Vladimir Putin has not revealed the reasons why he told Barack Obama that he knows Assad’s army did not fire the sarin missiles; but if the information is correct – and it is believed to have come from Moscow – Russia did not sell this particular batch of chemical munitions to Syria. Under Secretary of State Patrick Kennedy said the government of Libya is not allowing U.S. law enforcement into the country to arrest individuals connected with the Benghazi attack because the Libyan government “is not in control to that degree” Wednesday in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing.
Kennedy explained ever since the events of September 11, 2012 the country has taken a “serious turn for the worse.”
FIRST The FLIP. Yesterday [Mon] on CNN, when the shooter was still thought to have used an AR-15, the CNN media types were talking about how accurate a weapon it was. @7pm Erin Burnett even hosted a show talking about how anyone with simple training could put every magazine round into a two-inch square at 100 yards. (*Note – This is Pre-victim id)
[…] But if you keep that weapon clean, it is an extremely accurate rifle. He said from 100 yards, a novice with no training, with very little training could put just about every bullet in the magazine within about a two-inch area from 100 yards. So, that is how accurate that particular weapon is, Erin.
BURNETT: That is stunning. Every bullet in the magazine within a two-inch area with no training, I mean, that’s impossible to understand.
All right. Well, now I know, Brian, at this point, there are questions about what gun he used if he only used one gun where he got them. And I know we are still working on a lot of that. But I know that you know — you’re reporting he also had a semiautomatic Glock. Do we have any sense of what that, where he got that, what he was using that for?
TODD: Not sure where he got the semiautomatic glock pistol, Erin. We know that, from our sources that he purchased — he legally purchased the ar-15 rifle and that according to the people we have talked to, our law enforcement sources that was the weapon that he — the majority of the shooting with on Monday. So the ar-15 is really the weapon that everybody’s talking about right now. (link)

So that leads to the question: where did the AR-15 talking point come from?

The Wash Navy Yard shooter had 3 guns including AR-15 assault rifle – same killing machine used at Aurora and Sandy Hook.

The FACTUAL CCTV shows a differing story – Piers Morgan is full of his typical nonsense:
(FROM NBC) […] Surveillance video shows the gunman entered the NAVSEA building, at 1336 Isaac Hull Ave., with a shotgun, law enforcement officials told News4’s Jackie Bensen.
He shot a security officer in the head, killing him, and took his 9 mm pistol and a magazine of ammunition. The shooter then continued through the building and seemed to target his victims, who were mostly on the third and fourth floors, Bensen reported. (more…)
Flags at US Capitol to be lowered to half staff to honor the dead at Navy Yard blocks away. Will remain at half staff until sunset Friday.

(Via Huf Post) One shooter is dead after opening fire Monday morning at the Washington Navy Yard and authorities are investigating the possibility of an additional shooter wearing a military-style uniform, Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed.
Thirteen people were killed including the shooter, Mayor Vincent Gray announced at a late afternoon press conference. No motive is known at this time.
Multiple news outlets identified Aaron Alexis, 34, as the deceased shooter. Originally of Fort Worth, Texas, Alexis recently began working at the Navy yard as a civilian contractor, NBC reports.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., DC police announced over Twitter that one of two possible additional suspects, a white male in a tan outfit, had been identified and “is not a suspect or person of interest.” (Continue Reading)

Syria’s Bashir al-Assad was questioned about “opposition” in his country by Charlie Rose for a 60 minutes interview. Assad’s response was very direct. Assad replied: “Opposition? What did you call the people who flew the airplanes into your World Trade Center twin towers”… “did you call them ‘the opposition'”?
(UK Telegraph) Nearly half the rebel fighters in Syria are now aligned to jihadist or hardline Islamist groups according to a new analysis of factions in the country’s civil war.
Opposition forces battling Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria now number around 100,000 fighters, but after more than two years of fighting they are fragmented into as many as 1,000 bands.
The new study by IHS Jane’s, a defence consultancy, estimates there are around 10,000 jihadists – who would include foreign fighters – fighting for powerful factions linked to al-Qaeda..
Another 30,000 to 35,000 are hardline Islamists who share much of the outlook of the jihadists, but are focused purely on the Syrian war rather than a wider international struggle. (more…)
Tonight on CBS they put together a really good presentation about Syria. The construct of the broadcast was to put the Syrian issues to the viewer with three interviews.

The first interview with Bashir Assad, Syria’s President. The Second segment/interview with U.S. President Barack Obama. The last segment with recently retired CIA #2, and White House advisor, Mike Morell.
If you want a great construct, which was actually quite free of bias in presentation, I think you will enjoy it. Good, honest and factual airing of the surrounding issues. If you are not too familiar with the issues, the format will assist an understanding. If you are really familiar with the story, and up on current events – you’ll like the Morell interview.

Well done CBS.
After you watch please share your thoughts on current Syrian affairs.
