Today, June 13th is DAY #4 of the scheduled State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. Continuing jury selection. Yesterday the Court continued its preliminary questioning of prospective jurors, moving through 10 candidates by the end of the day.
As was the case previously, questions were limited to how much exposure the prospective juror had to the case through the media and other channels, as well as how that may have impacted their opinion of the case. There was also some speculation yesterday the defense believed a jury might be seated by the middle of next week. In addition, it was disclosed that a total of 71 jurors have been dismissed at this point.
Another 100 were summoned today, but are on call and do not have to report immediately to the court house. There was also a notable increase in questioning by both the State and the defense about the prospective juror’s use of social media. There was little of this on Monday, but it’s become an increasing focus of questioning since then. There also seemed to be an increased interest in whether the prospective jurors were active in church. (more…)

Today after trial for jury selection Trayvon’s™ Mom, Sybrina, and Trayvon’s™ Dad, Tracy, gave a press conference. However, just before they delivered their prepared remarks something serendipitous happened in the courtroom which brings a profound irony when contrast against their prepared statement.
“Today on the third day of the jury selection in the Trayvon Martin murder trial we are inspired by the honesty of the potential jurors. Their answers have been forthright and we have faith that the justice system and the members of the public who are selected for the jury will perform their civic duty in a fair and impartial manner.
Yesterday, former NYPD detective Harry Houck commented to FOX that Trayvon would be alive today if he didn’t have a “street attitude.” This comment, made on a live panel, is reprehensible and extremely reminiscent of the victim blaming rhetoric we saw a year ago. We all know Trayvon Martin was an unarmed teenager, who’d just bought Skittles and a tea on a chilly Florida evening in February. George Zimmerman was an armed adult who followed Trayvon down a street, pursued him and then shot him.
We are calling on the media to refuse to perpetuate victim blaming and irresponsible characterizations of Trayvon. The evidence shows there is no blood on Trayvon’s hands. Trayvon is not on trial here, he is the victim. Trayvon’s killer, George Zimmerman, is the man who is on trial.”
I’ve begun using the term usurpation to describe this administration, and the co-dependents/ willfully blind who support it.
The NSA intelligence data mining is clearly unconstitutional under the 4th amendment. The IRS targeting based on political ideology is also illegal and unconstitutional. The Dept of Justice manipulating warrants (lying to judges) to gather phone records on AP reporters and Fox’s James Rosen is a clear usurpation of the 1st amendment.
Now the latest usurpation can be seen in the Obama administration using an Executive Order to create de-facto amnesty (XO-Dream Act); And then to make matters worse – they stop the criminal background checks and ID requirements under such a program. So anyone can enter the U.S. claim to be whoever they want, and no criminal background check will be done.
And the Congresscritters are worried about Terrorists benefitting from the NSA leaker? How about they apply the same consideration (ie worry) about open borders without checks for those who cross them and then apply for Dream Act protections? (more…)
WASHINGTON DC – The FBI has dramatically increased its use of a controversial provision of the Patriot Act to secretly obtain a vast store of business records of U.S. citizens under President Barack Obama, according to recent Justice Department reports to Congress. The bureau filed 212 requests for such data to a national security court last year – a 1,000-percent increase from the number of such requests four years earlier, the reports show.
The FBI’s increased use of the Patriot Act’s “business records” provision — and the wide ranging scope of its requests — is getting new scrutiny in light of last week’s disclosure that that the provision was used to obtain a top-secret national security order requiring telecommunications companies to turn over records of millions of telephone calls. Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton standing “inside a courtroom” delivering officially state sanctioned remarks. I say State Sanctioned because it was allowed to take place in a courtroom, staged for the media and public.
Gee do you think the delicate sensibilities of the Professional Black Grievance Industry are being pandered to? PC running amok is an understatement toward various orders of magnitude.
The long run. The lifelong commitment. The big picture. The foundational truths. Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy is the title by Eric Metaxas that documents the short life and astounding work of Dietrich Bonhoeffer who lived all four of those identities to the full.
It is a mistake to think of Hitler having a meteorically sudden rise to power, and it is a great misreading of events to think that those who actively resisted him did so out of the anxiety of a moment, implementing plans only drawn up under the pressure of we must do something right now. Bonhoeffer and and others who actively resisted both inside and outside of government and military service, were far more thoughtful than such a perception would suggest.
What follows is a two page excerpt from Metaxas’ 2010 biography and may provide some food for thought as we find our places in our own national mess, perhaps feeling as he did, that we have so little ground under our feet because of the entrenched betrayals and deceptions that are dissolving the world as we knew it. In April of 2012 The Daily Caller Author, Chuck Rudd, interviewed Dr. James L Wayman who is scheduled to deliver expert testimony with regard to voice analytics and biometrics, on behalf of the Zimmerman defense team, tomorrow (Monday).
[Excerpt …] Dr. James Wayman, a San Jose State University expert in the field of speech science, told The Daily Caller that he questions the grounds on which Owen based his analysis.
Wayman also said he would be willing to testify against the admissibility of Owen’s findings on the grounds that they don’t meet the criteria required for evidence in federal courts. (more…)
