(Via Washington Examiner) In a bow to the huge U.S. Hispanic population and the Catholic Church’s advocacy of immigration, Pope Francis plans to give his Washington mass Sept. 23 in Spanish, according to Cardinal Donald William Wuerl.
“The mass is going to be in Spanish,” Wuerl said Wednesday while previewing the pope’s trip to reporters.
“It’s a recognition of how large the Hispanic population in the United States is,” said Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington. “And he’s coming as the first pope from the New World and the predominant language in this hemisphere is Spanish,” added Wuerl of the Argentine-born pope. (more…)
Mosby is a very lucky State Attorney. Maryland state law prohibits cameras and recording devices in court rooms. Her ineptitude, and the weakness behind the false construct of her case, will be masked without sunlight. Unfortunately, we are going to have to rely on reporters and media accounts for details.

Update 6:00pm – SEPARATE TRIALS – A judge on Wednesday ordered that six Baltimore Police officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray be tried separately.
The ruling was one of three that Judge Barry Williams handed down during the first pre-trial motions hearing in the case. Williams earlier denied defense motions to dismiss charges against the officers and to recuse State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby’s office from the case.
Prosecutors sought to have the six officers tried in groups, while defense attorneys had argued their clients should be tried separately. Williams said trying the officers together would not be “in the interest of justice.” (link) (more…)
Oh My !
Whoopsie, Ann Coulter is profoundly vindicated, Donald Trump has the pulse of the electorate, and Hillary Clinton’s “cattle-cars” talking point appears a little, well, out-of-touch with the majority of adult Americans.

(Via IBD) Immigration: When Donald Trump proposed mandatory deportation of illegal aliens, pundits and politicians on both sides of the political aisle were appalled. But on this issue it looks like Trump has the public on his side.
The fire from the right was almost as fierce as that from the left. “It’s not conservative and it’s not realistic and it does not embrace American values,” said Jeb Bush.
Sen. Lindsey Graham called it “absolute gibberish.”
Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer called the idea “crackpot” and “morally obscene.” (more…)
No Surprise – Texas Shooting Suspect Has History as "Mentally Incompetent" In Prior Criminal Trials…
From the outset, even before Miles was identified, we suspected the narrative surrounding the “person of interest” would encompass “mental incapacity“; apparently our suspicions are confirmed.
Houston (CNN) – The suspect in the slaying of Texas deputy Daron Goforth was found mentally incompetent in 2012 to stand trial on a felony assault charge, a prosecutor said Monday.
About three years ago, Shannon J. Miles was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after fighting a man at an Austin homeless shelter over the television remote control, said Joe Frederick, a prosecutor in Travis County, Texas.
Miles kicked and punched the victim, injuring his face, back and head, Frederick said. The deadly weapon used in the assault was his hands. (more…)
MILFORD, N.H. – Sen. Ted Cruz today blamed President Obama for the ambush murder of a sheriff’s deputy in Houston, asserting that the president’s vilification of police has created a dangerous climate.
“Cops across this country are feeling the assault,” Cruz told reporters after a town hall meeting in Milford, N.H. “They’re feeling the assault from the president, from the top on down, as we see — whether it’s in Ferguson or Baltimore, the response from senior officials, the president or the attorney general, is to vilify law enforcement. That’s wrong. It’s fundamentally wrong. It’s endangering all of our safety and security.”
Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth was killed Friday while filling his patrol car at a gas station in Houston. Authorities said today he was shot 15 times in the ambush. A suspect, Shannon J. Miles, is being held without bond. (more…)
TEXAS – A statue of Jefferson Davis has been removed from its place on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin after a failed appeal by a Confederate heritage group.
Crews could be seen Sunday morning removing the statue of the Confederate president from its place near the university’s iconic clock tower.
University President Greg Fenves recently said the statue would be moved to a museum.
The statue has been a target of vandalism as well as criticism that it is a symbol of racism and discrimination. Confederate symbols nationwide are being re-considered following the recent mass shooting of members of a black church in Charleston, South Carolina. A judge last week ruled against the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which sued to stop the university from moving it. (link)
Horrible crime. Sketchy details, combined with police asking for help, yet not releasing CCTV video, might mean sketchy story.
Update: Victim identified as 23-year-old Andre Johnson Jr (pictured right).
A man was shot and killed while waiting in a car with his two children in the back seat at a gas station on Detroit’s east side Saturday night, according to police.
The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at a gas station on the corner of East Vernor Highway and Mount Elliott Street.

The man was waiting in the car with his two young children while his girlfriend was inside the gas station.
Detroit police said the victim was reaching into the back seat taking care of his kids when he was shot through an open window. About a half-dozen shots were fired into the van. Detroit police said the man had no time to react. (more…)

Many of us have been asking this very question. In the aftermath of the Charleston shooting the media spent days deconstructing the pontification attributed to Dylann Roof in his manifesto; even the Valdosta Times published the highly racist screed of Eric Sheppard Jr (Valdosta State Terrorist) while he was on the run from the FBI, but for some reason ABC and CNN news is reluctant in the extreme to showcase the mindset of Vester Flanagan.
One can only imagine how much the Roanoke shooter’s words cut a swath counter to the preferred media narrative.
(PJ Media) Two days ago, ABC News reported that Vester Flanagan, the murderer of two WDBJ employees, sent a 23-page faxed manifesto to ABC News. ABC reported bits and pieces of the manifesto.
Yet we still haven’t seen the full document. ABC hasn’t made it available. Why?
John Nolte and others have been busy hammering away at the racial hypocrisy of many in the media after treating Flanagan’s crimes very differently from Dylann Roof’s. Unquestionably, they were both racially motivated. (more…)
Breitbart.Com has a very well written article about the Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly dust up. Anyone who has watched the evolution of Kelly and saw the visible pre-debate intentions on display, will see the validity in Breitbart viewpoint.
[…] The advocacy style of Kelly—who values being seen in mainstream media circles as a respectable journalist, a somehow neutral arbiter of the news—that Trump has exposed is toxic in the long run for her career and for her network. As she’s risen as a popular anchor, the network for which she works has worked overtime and spent millions of dollars to present her as a modern Walter Cronkite or Edward R. Murrow. They’ve painted a picture of Kelly as a news woman who tells America the truth, no matter what it is, in a fair and balanced manner.
But what Trump has done in a truly special manner is expose that fallacy. It’s not that Trump’s war with Kelly isn’t petty—it is, and it is probably counterproductive to be fighting with a television personality for weeks on end as he’s soaring in the polls. He could be fighting with the Mexican or Chinese governments or with Democrats or his fellow GOP candidates—all of which would be more conducive to helping him earn more supporters—but Trump isn’t someone who backs down easily–and since Kelly came after him, not the other way around, he feels like he needs to win. Well, in the regard of whether or not Kelly is in fact impartial, Trump has a decisive victory. (more…)
