MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An Opa-Locka teenager is being held without bond after a court hearing and after Miami-Dade Police arrested him for shooting and killing a 71-year-old man.
As first reported first reported by the blog Random Pixels, Miami-Dade Police have identified the suspect who fatally shot Miguel Pilotos as 17-year-old Jamal Jackson.  The chilling crime was captured on surveillance tape at 4 p.m. on August 21^st outside the Top Value Supermarket in Opa-Locka.
Miami-Dade Police spokesman Javier Baez told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench that the arrest of Jackson on Thursday afternoon followed a tip to Miami-Dade Crimestoppers.  (continue reading) 

The victim of a home invasion in Palmview Saturday asked Action 4 not to show her face on camera. She told us she never wanted to have a gun around the house, but after this ordeal, she’s glad she had protection by her side.

UPDATE: Filtering through all the media reports this is what appears. George and Shellie were both living at a rental home owned by her parents. They are in the process of getting divorced, and subsequently are moving out of that residence. According to Mark O’Mara’s brief statement to media, Shellie Zimmerman was supposed to pick up her stuff last Saturday and George today. Shellie showed up unexpectedly. George was not alone. (GunsSaveLives) A suspect in several burglaries, car thefts and car jackings led police on a chase lasting over an hour yesterday morning.  The suspect managed to elude police by stealing multiple vehicles in short succession.
According to KCTV5, one homeowner fought off the suspect by hand.  With police in pursuit, the suspect abandoned the third stolen vehicle, and confronted Vince Frew in his driveway as Frew was loading items he needed for his day into his work van.

The suspect then attempted to steal his vehicle. Frew said the intruder wanted his keys but he didn’t have them. “He approached me, and I just kind of shoved him off of me,” he said. (more…)

A MICHIGAN POLAR BEAR WAS ARMED […] The intended victim moved quickly, pulling his stainless steel .40-caliber Smith and Wesson. It had a full 10-round magazine, and was worth about $900 police estimated.
He shot Weaver in his buttocks as the teen turned to flee.
“It happened so fast I wasn’t sure. I just know something was shoved into my side. I wasn’t sure if it was a knife, if it was anything,” he told police.
Weaver ( <–PICTURED HERE ) ran, sat down across the street, his leg going numb, bleeding. Pleading.
“‘I’m sorry, please don’t kill me, I don’t know why I did that, I’m high you know, I just wanna go home,’” the teen told the man who had just shot him. (continue reading the full story)

According to an ABC News report, Kenan Adams-Kinard, 16, was captured early this morning along with several other people who were aiding him.

Adams-Kinard is believed to have received help while on the lam, according to police.  “Several other people with him have been arrested for rendering criminal assistance,” according to Spokane Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton.  (link)

…  She lived in up-state New York  […] Gumbinger was found dead in her home at 22 Underhill Ave. early Wednesday morning.
Freer said police are still at Gumbinger’s home Underhill Avenue today [Saturday] and expect to finish processing the crime scene this afternoon or evening.

“We’re still processing evidence,” he said. “We anticipate completing the scene processing sometime today.”
Police charged Javon Tyrek Rogers, 20, of the City of Poughkeepsie, with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary around 11 p.m. in connection with the homicide of Fannie Gumbinger, 99, city police Detective Lt. Edward Freer said in a written release late Friday night. (more…)
