I did not see the CBS 60 Minutes interview with President Obama; so I set about going to look for it.  Before going to CBS’s website I stopped by U-Tube to see if there was an encapsulated segment.

Fortuitously I discovered this presentation.  While it is not the entire interview, it is well worth the watch for greater foxhole-morale value.  Not only is the commentary quite funny, it also provides further evidence that there are many people who understand the situation and feel the same way.  (Salty Language Alert)

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Russia and Syria unleashed a coordinated assault by land, air and sea on Wednesday, seeking to reverse recent gains by rebel groups that were beginning to encroach on President Bashar al-Assad’s last bastion of power.

Moscow said it had fired 26 cruise missiles on Syrian targets from naval vessels in the Caspian Sea, 900 miles away, though it was not immediately clear whether they hit targets in the area of the ground offensive.

The ground assault, and airstrikes, seemed to focus on an area of northern Hama Province and southern Idlib Province, around three villages that insurgents consider the first line of defense of the strategic Jebel al-Zawiyah area. (more…)

Russia only gave the United States an hour’s warning ahead of the strikes and did not specify where they would occur, riling many in the Pentagon who had been hoping for clearer and more detailed lines of communication.
A Russian general asked the U.S. to remove its planes from Syrian airspace Wednesday, just hours before Russian airstrikes began there.  It would appear Russia is creating a battle space to re-stabilize Assad…

SYRIA – The Russian three-star general, who was part of the newly formed intelligence cell with Iraq, Iran, and the Syrian government, arrived in Baghdad at 9 a.m. local time and informed U.S. officials that Russian strikes would be starting imminently—and that the U.S. should refrain from conducting strikes and move any personnel out. The only notice the U.S. received about his visit was a phone call one hour earlier.
The Russian strikes were centered about the city of Homs, according to initial accounts in the local press and in social media. That’s significant, because Homs is not known to be an ISIS stronghold. (more…)

“You shall not pass” – So say the people of Finland as they turn away “refugees” trying to make their way into their country.  Remarkable similarities to when the feds were trying to ship the illegal aliens around the U.S.  Communities blocking the passage.

FINLAND – More than hundred people gathered on Saturday in Torneå to protest against immigration. YLE’s reporter, Jessica Stolzmann, reports that there were many Finnish flags and people of all ages in place.
Just before 13 o’clock the participants formed a human wall on the Finnish side of the border between Sweden and Finland.
– We are opposed to so many asylum seekers coming to Finland. They have come through lots of safe European countries before they reached Finland, and they should have stayed there, said a middle-aged couple to YLE, during the demonstration. (more…)

Coming to America; soon to arrive in a city near you!  However, not to worry, Secretary Jeh Johnson says the Obama administration will vet them “carefully”.

(Saint Louis) Thousands of Syrian refugees eventually bound for the U.S. will be screened “carefully” to ensure that none of them are terrorists, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Wednesday.
During a keynote speech at the Missouri college where Winston Churchill made his famous “Iron Curtain” speech seven decades ago, Johnson offered no clarity on how quickly the vetting of the 10,000 refugees from the war-torn country that the U.S. plans to accept during the coming year will be done, or whether it can be expedited. Last night during the GOP debate the question of Syria was asked; none of the candidates spoke of an increasingly specific aspect to the Syrian reality.

Anyone who has a basic understanding of the current situation in the Mid-East must accept that Russia is playing chess, and the Obama administration is insufferably getting out-played.
It was only a few weeks ago when Egypt’s Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah went to Moscow and met with Vladimir Putin.
A little over a week later Putin begins putting additional Russian military forces into Syria presumably to assist Bashar Assad in removing his adversaries, various ISIS elements.
What Putin is inevitably doing right now is pushing out those elements within Syria who collectively create one side of the Syrian civil war.  He’s going to continue pushing those Syrian people into Turkey and, as a consequence of Erdogan’s unwillingness to be destabilized by those elements, ultimately they will travel into Europe. If you thought Secretary Kerry’s 2013 “Jobs for Jihadists” program was goofy, wait until you read about this one. 
The U.S. federal government is announcing a new program called CVE (Counter Violent Extremism) in Minneapolis Minnesota.  Under the U.S. program, authorized by President Obama, Somali Muslims living in Minnesota will be paid not to go on terror rampages. or blow themselves up. 

…”Led by a taskforce of 15 Somali Americans and a traditional community grant-making organization, the Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) program is the brainchild of the chief federal prosecutor for Minnesota, Andrew Luger. […]  The goal is to prevent youth recruitment by overseas extremist groups such as Isis or al-Shabaab”…. 

Any individual found engaged in an act of violent jihad will have their monthly payment stopped, and all federal income subsides removed. They’re calling it “crime prevention“, so there’s always that….
(VIA GUARDIAN) Hibaaq Osman has a glow that changes the energy in a room, or in her case, the energy of the restaurant her family owns in Karmel mall, the oldest Somali mall in Minneapolis. The cafe is right near the mosque on the top floor of the building, past rows of entrepreneurs selling wares in individual stalls, sipping hot drinks in small cups and chatting in Somali.
