Many insiders are quickly coming to the collective recognition that Sarah Palin will not be running.   Therefore, will her appearance in Iowa be merely a PR campaign to gain more $$$ for SarahPac and her support of other worthy candidates?  How does one reconcile the belief in a noble and altruistic Palin with the fact that her actions might be more about fundraising rather than those of pure altruism?   Her “Iowa Tour Bus” might be a huge mistake if it is seen by many Iowans as stealing the spotlight from candidates who have already invested heavily in their ground games. (People)…Sarah Palin has become a grandmother for the second time, according to reporter Joe McGinniss, who is writing a book on the former vice presidential candidate.
Palin’s eldest son, Track, and his wife, Britta, welcomed a baby girl named Kyla Grace Palin on Sunday night, reports McGinniss, who moved next door to the Palins’s Alaska home in 2010 to gain better access to the family.
In May, it was announced that the high school sweethearts were married. The Palin family never officially confirmed Britta’s pregnancy, though pictures of her baby shower surfaced on Facebook. (more…)

Hat Tip Gracie & TNWAHM  In the coming days we’ll sort through the repercussions of S&P’s downgrade of our credit rating, including concerns about the impact a potential interest rate increase would have on our ability to service our suffocating $14.5 trillion debt.
I’m surprised that so many people seem surprised by S&P’s decision. Weren’t people paying attention over the last year or so when we were getting warning after warning from various credit rating agencies that this was coming? Gee, no wonder no-one believes in polls… (Briefing Room) — More than half of Americans think the press has been either too easy or else fair in its coverage of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), a new poll said Thursday.
A combined 54 percent of U.S. adults said the press had been too easy or had been fair toward Palin, according to a new Pew Research Center poll. Thirty-two percent said the press has been fair, and 22 percent say the press has been too easy on Palin, the potential GOP presidential candidate. (more…)

(h/t freedom1781)…Out here in proverbial politico flyover country, we little folk are watching the debt ceiling debate with great interest and concern. Today I re-read the open letter I wrote to Republican Freshman Members of Congress in November 2010, just days after they were ushered into office in an historic landslide victory due in large part to the activism of commonsense patriots who are considered part of the Tea Party movement. I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us “little people” who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes. This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this. (more…)

This is the same president who proposed an absurdly irresponsible budget that would increase our debt by trillions of dollars, and whose party failed to even put forward a budget in over 800 days! This is the same president who is pushing our country to the brink because of his reckless spending on things like the nearly trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle. This is the same president who ignored his own debt commission’s recommendations and demonized the voices of fiscal sanity who proposed responsible plans to reform our entitlement programs and rein in our dangerous debt trajectory.
