The Bigotry Of Low Expectations

It’s one thing to hear  pundits say you are racist for expecting quality performance from a black president, it’s quite another thing for the President to say it….

(Via Bloomberg)  President Barack Obama said that racial tensions may have softened his popularity among white voters within the last two years, according to a story posted on the New Yorkermagazine’s website today.

“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.

“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office. Outlined in new documents obtained by The Investigative Project on Terrorism we find confirmation the State Dept coordinated the entry of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood delegation into the U.S. in April of 2012.   Using a designation “Expedited Entry -or- Port Courtesy, normally reserved for high-ranking visiting government officials and dignitaries” which allowed them to skip basic airport inspections.

It’s no secret, either in the U.S. or in Egypt, that President Obama and Secretary Clinton were key allies to Egyptian Islamist President Morsi prior to his ouster from office.

The U.S. support for Morsi was a source of anger amid secular Egyptians against the United States administration for supporting the Islamists within the Muslim Brotherhood.

That mainstream anger eventually led to the Egyptian military acting on behalf of the majority of Egyptian citizens to remove the Islamist head from power.   In addition they reinstated the controls on the Brotherhood which Morsi had removed and put al-Qaeda’s Muhammed al-Zawahiri back behind bars. CAIRO – More than 98 percent of voters backed a new Egyptian constitution in a referendum this week, authorities said on Saturday, though the turnout was lower than some officials had indicated, with under 40 percent of the electorate taking part.

The vote advances a transition plan that the military-backed government unveiled after deposing Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last July following mass unrest over his rule.

“Now that God has supported us in legalizing our constitution, we ask for his aid in achieving the remaining two stages of the road map: the presidential and parliamentary elections,” said Nabil Salib, head of the Supreme Election Committee.

The “yes” vote was 98.1 percent, and 38.6 percent of eligible voters took part, Salib told reporters. (more…)

It doesn’t take a leap to see the possibility Barack Obama is just about over this gig he was willingly thrust into.   When you look at his speech today about the NSA domestically, and then review the reality of failure in foreign affairs, you can almost see the visible gears turning out the thought/perspective, “this sucks”.

There comes a time when a highly scripted and massively controlled person eventually turns inward and asks the hard questions of themselves.   It sure looks like Dear Leader is in such a position.

All the stuff indoctrinated to sell via teleprompter with grand prose just isn’t carrying the same value it once did.   That Columbia liberalism doesn’t actually deliver the sense of fulfillment – especially when you do all the things they said would work, and yet look at the consequences evident in the reality of abject failure. WASHINGTON DC – In a bid to calm growing privacy concerns about the government’s spying powers, President Obama outlined a series of steps Friday aimed at ushering in “concrete and substantial” reforms to the National Security Agency.

“Americans recognized that we had to adapt to a world in which a bomb could be built in a basement and our electric grid could be shut down by operators an ocean away,” the president said during a major policy speech at the Department of Justice.

“And yet,” he added, “in our rush to respond to very real and novel threats, the risks of government overreach—the possibility that we lose some of our core liberties in pursuit of security—became more pronounced.” (more…)

I’ll admit to being a little frustrated with the Charles Krauthammer’s of the world who talk about ObamaCare self-destructing because it is financially “unsustainable”.   This they also call the “death spiral” to describe the possible collapse of ObamaCare because the financial arrangements inherent within ObamaCare do not support it continuing.

Intellectually accurate.    BUT, when you think about how current political progressives operate, PROFOUNDLY NAIVE  and structurally false.

[WSJ] Robert Laszewski—a prominent consultant to health insurance companies—recently wrote in a remarkably candid blog post that, while Obamacare is almost certain to cause insurance costs to skyrocket even higher than it already has, “insurers won’t be losing a lot of sleep over it.”  How can this be?  Because insurance companies won’t bear the cost of their own losses—at least not more than about a quarter of them.  The other three-quarters will be borne by American taxpayers. Oh the irony is so thick it hurts…  The only people who showed up for the entire event were the CNN seat anchors: Anderson Cooper, Piers Morgan, Wolf Blitzer and Christiane Amanpour… LOL… ambling around talking to eachother.

Last Friday night, CNN boss Jeff Zucker threw a swanky party at Langham hotel’s pool deck in Pasadena to woo the Television Critics Association.

The only problem: nobody showed up. Thanks at least in part to the conflict with the Golden Globes, the pool party was largely empty except for hosts Anderson Cooper, Piers Morgan, Wolf Blitzer, and Christiane Amanpour, who were, according to the Hollywood Reporter, “left to mingle with one another.” (more…)
