Fox affiliate KDVR shocked presenters and viewers alike on Tuesday morning when it accidentally aired a photo of a man’s penis during a broadcast about the helicopter crash in Seattle. The station has blamed staff in the control room and says it has taken steps to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.
(Via WeaselZippers) Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet) has issued a fatwa stating that kangaroo meat and grasshoppers are “halal” food, but Islam bans eating “badgers, martens, weasels, beavers and sea otters.”
“Islamic scholars agree that ‘halal’ animals that are not mentioned in the Quran and in the hadith [the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad] are those that don’t eat feces and carcasses, and which are therefore neither wild nor coarse,” the Diyanet’s High Committee of Religious Affairs said in response to a citizen’s question.
As such, the fatwa continues, kangaroo is classified in the same category with other “grass eating, clean animals like deer, gazelle and antelope.” Grasshopper is also categorized as “halal” because “there is a special provision in the Sunnah,” it adds, referring to the way of life prescribed as normative for Muslims on the basis of the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad. By now almost everyone is aware that Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert Kennedy, decided to take her Drugged-Driving case to trial in order to escape her DUI charge.
Together with her attorney they decided to use the “Affluenza Defense”.
New York – “She is a daughter of Ethel and Robert Kennedy and a niece of our past president, John Fitzgerald Kennedy,” said Kerry Kennedy’s lawyer, Gerald Lefcourt, to jurors in the packed White Plains court room.
He added that his “religious” client had two daughters who attended Ivy League schools. She should be found not guilty of driving under the influence of a sleeping pill because she’s a human-rights activist whose life-saving work would be severely curbed if she was sidelined by jail.
Testifying in her own defense, Ms. Kerry Kennedy wasted little time before playing the “Daddy” card. “Daddy was the attorney general during the civil rights movement and then a senator,” the 54-year-old testified, supposedly explaining why she grew up in Virginia, but coyly invoking the memory of her slain father, Sen Robert F. The video was recorded while Ms. Kennedy was testifying in her own defense. (KANSAS) These are the child prodigies who used up all the available words at a spelling bee, forcing organizers to stop the showdown until they could find more.
When Sophia Hoffman, 11, and Kush Sharma, 13, buzzed through the list of words over 47 rounds during Saturday’s Jackson County Spelling Bee, organizers had to pull more from a dictionary.
But after blitzing the extra 20 words, organizers decided to postpone the competition until March 8 because people were too tired to continue.
