The leftist usurpers and their willfully blind media cohorts, love to bring up the insufferable talking point(s) about Obamacare being the law of the land.  Passed by Congress, signed by the President, and upheld by The Supreme Court;  as if this baseline is the principle behind their “get over it” talking point.
You will see this set of talking points in essentially every argument against the current popular demand to defund, delay or otherwise modify Obamacare.

So what I want to do here is focus on that “principle”, and just remind everyone of some simple facts about how this “law” came to be in the first place;  and, perhaps, give some assistance when you are pushing back against the manipulation of the discussion.
First, Obamacare was not passed as a regular legislative construct.   Not.Even.Close.
Most of you will easily remember exactly how it came to be.   In the Fall of 2009, as the National Healthcare was being debated, an awakened electorate began to recognize just how horrid the concept being sold actually was.
We witnessed day after day, after day, of Democrat special interest groups (unions) constructing the concept of our healthcare.   As each day passed, opposition grew.
Subsequently, Harry Reid needed to keep all the Senators away from their constituents so they did not hear the voice of the people.  Unlike the House Dems, who were flogged at numerous town halls,  Reid “sequestered” the entire Senate and kept them in session over the holiday break of 2009.   He would not allow them to pause, return home, and then resume debate and construct in January. Yesterday afternoon President Stompy Feet held a meeting with Democrats to discuss the Federal Government Shutdown.   Washington DC congresswoman, Eleanor Holmes, told Dear Whiner the House Bill funding DC should be supported by him and the Senate as a quick fix to the current fiscal stalemate.   She was quickly jumped upon for daring to walk off the plantation and question “dear leader”…..

Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) had what some colleagues called “a heated exchange” and what she described as “a conversation” with President Obama during a White House meeting Wednesday afternoon regarding the District’s budget constraints as a result of the partial government shutdown.
Norton attended the meeting in the White House East Room with nearly 200 House Democrats and was one of a handful given the opportunity to ask the president a question. When she was called upon, Norton pressed Obama to support a House-passed bill that would permit the District to use its locally raised tax funds to maintain operations until Dec. 15. (more…)

This is an update to this previous outline.   The House has voted to resume payments to the families of fallen soldiers.  However, the funding was never stopped in the first place.  The emergency death benefit was included in the original “Pay Our Military Act”; and it was affirmed as such by Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. 
Someone, within the administration,  interpreted used the opportunity to cut off the death benefit to prove a political point.   Now, in essence, congress voting specifically to fund something they had previously funded.  Why?  To save “someone’s” face.   Grrrr.
WASHINGTON DC – The House voted unanimously on Wednesday to restore the financial payments the Department of Defense makes to the families of fallen U.S. soldiers.
Members easily passed the bill after the Pentagon said it can no longer make the payments because of the government shutdown. The Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act, H.J.Res. 91, was approved in a 425-0 vote.
The bipartisan bill was quickly developed and rushed to the floor this week after the Pentagon said it could no longer make “death gratuity” payments to families after October 1 because of the government shutdown. (more…)

Dancing Past The Propaganda

Have you noticed the term “reaching the debt ceiling“, has now been replaced by the White House term “default“?    As if, reaching an expiration of current borrowing limits means we are automatically doing to default on our debt.    Insufferable propaganda.
Reaching the debt ceiling means we just will not borrow more money.  Period.   It has nothing to do with what the government does with the incoming tax revenue.   Think of it like your household budget.
You earn $5,000 per month.   You spend $7,500 per month.  Reaching the debt ceiling means you have used up your credit line.  You either borrow more, or reduce your living expenses to the $5,000 you have coming in. (more…)

The “Death Gratuity” is an emergency financial distribution ($100k) to the family of a service member killed in action.   It’s typically sent to families within three days to help cover funeral costs or travel to meet the flag-draped coffins of their loved ones.

Sunday night was not a good night for troops on the ground. A Marine was killed during a combat patrol. A platoon from 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment helicopter assaulted onto target. In the end, four died—two Rangers, two attachments. There were so many wounded by the command detonated IEDs and suicide bombers that the platoon was rendered combat ineffective. For those of you that have served, it was the nightmare you hope you’d never have to face: it was a mas-cas.

But because of what I can only describe as one of the grossest failings of our government during the current shut down (and that’s saying something, I know), the tragedy of Sunday night’s actions are just beginning.

According to sources inside of Special Operations Command, this morning at roughly 0930 there was a video teleconference. In the conference, liaison personnel who were already tasked with the almost impossible job of telling these families their son or daughter has been killed in action, now have to tell them something else: that their government has failed them and they will not be getting any governmental assistance until the government shutdown is over.  (continue reading)

Five servicemen were killed in Afghanistan this past weekend.  The DoD has released the following statement:

“Unfortunately, as a result of the shutdown, we do not have the legal authority to make death gratuity payments at this time.  However, we are keeping a close eye on those survivors who have lost loved ones serving in the Department of Defense.” – Nate Christensen, a spokesman for the DoD

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama sustained an hour-long press conference without a single question about his signature healthcare law and the glitches that continue to plague the insurance exchanges — a point that frustrated several conservatives.
“Explain to me how in a dozen questions the second biggest story of the week, the healthcare.gov debacle, doesn’t even come up,” Brendan Buck, the press secretary for House Speaker John Boehner, asked in an email to POLITICO.

There’s a reason the enforcement mechanism for the ACA (Obamacare) is the IRS.   There’s also a specific reason why the fiscal year begins on October 1st and the calendar year January 1st. First watch this video:

Both the federal income tax code and the Obamacare tax code are based on systemic architectural baselines, “standards”, which must be in place prior to user based data inputs into the system(s) to determine the tax payers liability.
Inside the construct of this architecture you find the political risk to the Spite House, to the administration and to Democrats in general.    It is in their collective best interests that tax payers do not find out the depth of their predicted liability.   Hence, we are seeing numerous outlets reporting a growing frustration with the ACA system not providing the information.   This is not accidental, it is more likely by design.
