CONCORD, CA — Officials at a Northern California private school are apologizing after a lunch menu option to celebrate Black History Month angered some parents and students.

Students at Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord wanted to come up with ways to observe the occasion during a lunchtime celebration Friday. But when the school announced a menu of fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon, other students and parents became offended. (more…)

“The children belong to all of us” ?   Hmmm.  How positively Clintonian.

(CNSNews.com) – In addressing criticism of the Common Core national  education standards, a panelist at the Center for American Progress  (CAP), a liberal think tank, said critics were a “tiny minority” who  opposed standards altogether, which was unfair because “the children  belong to all of us.”

The CAP was founded by John Podesta, former chief of staff to Bill  Clinton and now an adviser to President Barack Obama.  At a CAP event to  promote Common Core on Friday, CNSNews.com asked about the critics who  say federal monetary incentives attached to Common Core is driving the  states to implement the standards. I read this yesterday and hoped it was spoof.   No, really, I’m serious; I was hoping this was a joke – because absent of it being a joke the profound STUPIDITY is beyond comprehension.

School staff walked up to the kids who had, according to them, negative balances in their school lunch accounts, and took the lunches off their tables and threw them in the garbage.   Yes, this actually happened.   The adults took lunches from 40 kids in school, in front of the other kids, and threw them in the garbage.   < —-  Think about it.

SALT LAKE, UTAH – Up to 40 kids at Uintah Elementary in Salt Lake City picked up their lunches Tuesday, then watched as the meals were taken and thrown away because of outstanding balances on their accounts — a move that shocked and angered parents.

“It was pretty traumatic and humiliating,” said Erica Lukes, whose 11-year-old daughter had her cafeteria lunch taken from her as she stood in line Tuesday at Uintah Elementary School, 1571 E. 1300 South. (more…)

The Hard Bigotry of Forced Lower Expectations !

The school is predominantly Black and Hispanic.  Minorities make up more than two-thirds of the student body; Whites / Asians a mere 28%.

The higher academic functioning kindergartners were mostly white/asian.  It was mostly white parents who were engaged with the academic success of their child and enrolling them in the additional gifted program.

Absent of enough high level academically functioning blacks the gifted program lacked diversity.          So the school shut it down.

NEW YORK – A popular gifted program will get the axe after Ditmas Park school officials chose diversity over exclusivity.

Citing a lack of diversity, PS 139 Principal Mary McDonald informed parents in a letter that the Students of Academic Rigor and two other in-house programs would no longer accept applications for incoming kindergartners.

“Our Kindergarten classes will be heterogeneously grouped to reflect the diversity of our student body and the community we live in,” McDonald told parents in a letter posted on the photo-sharing site flickr and obtained by Ditmas Park Corner.

More than two thirds of the school’s roughly 1,000 students are black or hispanic while Asian-American and white students made up 28%, according to Education Dept. records. (more…)

This PJ Media story is horrifying on so many levels – to say the least.

( Via PJ Media ) A former high-ranking San Francisco government employee convicted of felony possession of child pornography will continue to receive his government pension because, according to city regulations, evidence of “moral turpitude” is required to revoke a pension yet viewing violent kiddie porn does not qualify as moral turpitude.

As reported here in the Tatler, Larry Brinkin, a prominent San Francisco Human Rights Commissioner and nationally known gay rights advocate, was arrested in 2012 for possessing and possibly distributing videos and images of babies being raped by adult men.

Because of Brinkin’s “iconic” stature in the community as the person who pioneered “domestic partnership” laws nationwide, supporters at the time accused the police of framing him with false charges. But the evidence was so overwhelming that, after 18 months of legal wrangling, on Tuesday, January 21, Brinkin pled guilty to felony possession of child pornography, with various other more serious charges dropped as part of the plea bargain. He will serve just six months in jail and thereafter have to register as a sex offender.

But the scandal didn’t end there. A recent law defining which type of actions count as “moral turpitude” required to nullify municipal pension benefits does not include sex crimes involving children, and only refers to financial crimes: (more…)

In a bad omen for Democrats hopes in the mid-term elections, Barack Obama’s favorability rating has slide so far that he’s now nine points under the rating for our favorite crack-smoking Canadian mayor.

In the most recent polling, Rob Ford gets 47% of Toronto’s denizen’s approval, while Obama gets a dismal 38% from Americans.  (link)

NOW…. Imagine – The college students are white, the ad shows a black woman welcoming back the students, and subsequently the students/alumni of the college begin to attack the company because they dare use a black woman in their ad.

“Disparate Impact” is the actual EEO policy which outlines EEO Law.   The policy creates a  factual reality that it is unlawful NOT to hire illegal aliens.    Employers can be, and are, criminally and civilly liable if they do not hire illegal aliens – I know this from first hand experience.

“Disparate Impact” is also the same federal EEO policy now being extended toward school punishment for anti-social behavior, unlawful conduct, and rule breaking. 

WASHINGTON DC – Education experts decried a new memo from the Departments of Justice and Education that instructs public schools throughout the country to cease punishing disruptive students if they fall into certain racial categories, such as black or Hispanic.

The letter, released on Wednesday, states that it is a violation of federal law for schools to punish certain races more than others, even if those punishments stem from completely neutral rules. For example, equal numbers of black students and white students should be punished for tardiness, even if black students are more often tardy than white students.

“Schools also violate Federal law when they evenhandedly implement facially neutral policies and practices that, although not adopted with the intent to discriminate, nonetheless have an unjustified effect of discriminating against students on the basis of race.

I’m shocked.  Shocked I tell ya, SHOCKED !

….. research of 183 football or basketball players at UNC from 2004-12 found 60 percent reading at fourth- to eighth-grade levels and roughly 10 percent below a third-grade level….

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina has been in an academic crisis mode for more than three years.

An NCAA investigation into the football program in 2010 expanded into a probe of how the nation’s first public university provides academic help to athletes. It led to a discovery of fraud in a department with classes featuring significant athlete enrollments.

Now, the debate of balancing academics and big-time sports at the university has been reignited by comments from a reading specialist about the reading levels of football and basketball players. (more…)

For over three years we have been tracking this new federal protocol of qualifying school punishment for misbehavior around the race of the offender.    The origin of the approach actually stems from Miami-Dade, Florida, and a diversionary tolerance program initiated by School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.

Carvalho is a close ally, and political affiliate, of both Barack and Michelle Obama.   Carvalho also turned down a position inside the Dept of Education which would have placed him second only to Education Secretary Arnie Duncan.

Carvalho’s program within the Miami-Dade school district actually preceded the Executive Order given by Barack Obama which initiated the new DOJ directives around “Disparate Impact”, establishing the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans.  Effectively placing “quotas” on school discipline based on race.

It  was also Carvalho’s widely heralded program which led to the Miami-Dade School Police Department putting Trayvon Martin into diversionary programs using School Discipline to replace Criminal Justice in an effort to avoid a criminal record. (more…)
