Okay, I admit I have never taken the time to watch or listen to Lady Gaga.  All I knew about her (until this week) was her weird costumes, on-stage antics, her LGBT advocacy etc.  Maybe a Madonna wannabe. In other words, I didn’t think she had anything to offer that I would want to buy.

The pop culture is a reflection of the social and political mores of the times.  The 1960’s were a heyday in Hollywood movie making.  Part of that is, in my opinion, because of the depth of talent in acting, directing and script writing.  Part of it is technological advancements.  Of course, home video equipment wasn’t available for another decade, so your movie watching was done either in a theater, or on television.

The first reports of this surfaced several days ago.  It now appears the reports were accurate.  Kayla Mueller was separated from all other hostages and given to an ISIS militant commander as a trophy….
WASHINGTON – With the confirmed death of Kayla Mueller, new details have emerged about the American hostage’s experience in ISIS captivity, including the belief by some officials that she had been given over to a commander in the jihadi group.
“ISIS didn’t see her as a hostage or a bargaining chip,” a counter-terrorism official told ABC News.
“Reflections” in the limited collection of intelligence in Syria — like indirect indications of a person’s presence somewhere, such as ISIS fighters referring to her in calls or spotted guarding a sensitive site where she might have been held — indicated Kayla was still alive and sometimes in the company of an ISIS leader being actively tracked who had custody over her, possibly by forced marriage, officials told ABC News. However, while no longer mayor, Bloomberg’s latest proposal to make things illegal might just wake up the BGI.
While in Aspen Colorado, Bloomberg advocated for a position to make it illegal for young black males to own firearms.

Saint Paul Minnesota is a hotbed of racially driven black mob violence, but the media work diligently to keep it hidden. Recently the frequency of the attacks has increased in severity and now even the local media are forced to discuss it.

SAINT PAUL – A string of group [BLACK] attacks has taken place in downtown St. Paul in recent weeks.  Last Monday, a 23-year-old [WHITE]  man and his 56-year-old friend were brutally assaulted by six [BLACK] people in a skyway downtown near Cedar Street.
According to police, a restaurant near the new St. Paul Saints stadium was also rushed by a group of about nine [BLACK] people who started eating and drinking from the [WHITE] customers’ tables.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS obtained security video that showed a [BLACK] woman in the group suddenly throw a glass of water at another [WHITE] customer. HOLLYWOOD – American Sniper has set its sights on another record: Within a matter of days, it will overtake Steven Spielberg’s WWII classic Saving Private Ryan to become the top-grossing war-themed film of all time in North America, not accounting for inflation.
Clint Eastwood’s history-making movie jumped the $200 million mark on Sunday, putting it ahead of Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, another WWII title topping out at $198.5 million domestically in 2001. American Sniper is distinct from those two film in being set during a modern-day conflict.

“He shouldn’t have gotten out of the car”, a phrase heard consistently in both the Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown shootings. In essence the argument being both citizen George Zimmerman and officer Darren Wilson held responsibility for the outcome because they exited their vehicle.
We have discussed this viewpoint as the “Safari Principle“, however now the Ferguson/Saint Louis police department is considering the argument -under the auspices of “tactical retreat”- as a standard policy.
SAINT LOUIS – Like many officers involved in deadly force encounters, Darren Wilson said his training took over when he shot Michael Brown in Ferguson.
But what if Wilson had been trained differently?
The national upheaval from Brown’s death, and some others since, has put enormous pressure on law enforcement to find ways to control people’s behavior while using less violence. One possibility — simple but repugnant to some officers — is to teach police to back away from certain difficult situations until help can arrive.
The concept is known as “tactical retreat” or sometimes “tactical withdrawal” or “tactical restraint.”
“We add the word, ‘tactical’ and not just ‘retreating’ or ‘giving up’ because that’s what makes it palatable for police officers,” explained Seth Stoughton, a criminal law professor at the University of South Carolina. The former Florida officer is a nationally prominent advocate for applying the softer approach. (more…)
