Allen West – “racial protectionism” – When the concept of doing a website was presented to me, initially I scoffed thinking there wouldn’t be enough critical material daily to comment on — boy was I wrong. Every day I am amazed at the insanity I witness in our America and here is another example.
According to a report in The Hill, Attorney General Eric Holder is at it again with his racial preference policies,
Attorney General Eric Holder called upon the nation’s school districts Wednesday to rethink “zero tolerance” disciplinary policies that he said disproportionately punish minorities and push too many students into the justice system. Alarming numbers of young people are suspended, expelled or even arrested for relatively minor transgressions like school uniform violations, schoolyard fights or showing ‘disrespect’ by laughing in class,” Holder said during a speech in Baltimore.
What did his remarks really mean? They accompanied the release of new federal guidance from the departments of Justice and Education encouraging (i.e. threatening) schools to adopt disciplinary policies that are “fair, nondiscriminatory, and effective.” The guidance offers parameters for punishment as governed by federal civil rights protections, alternatives to exclusionary discipline and a comprehensive list of regulations on the books in every state. ROCK HILL Two teenagers wanted for murder walked into the lobby of the Rock Hill Police Department Monday morning and turned themselves in, police say.
Dontavion Qua’mek White, 17, and Maurice Lamont Burris, 16, are charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm while under the age of 18, police said.
Burris, a juvenile under state law, will be tried as an adult because of the severity of the allegations.
[…] Both White and Burris attend the Renaissance Academy in Rock Hill, an alternative school for students that gives them a second chance if they’ve lost other educational opportunities. White (17) is a 10th-grader; Burris (16) is a ninth-grader. (more…)
In the excerpt below you see exactly why political progs, like Jake Tapper, don’t understand the military and disrespect the soldier.
Tappers’ inherent issue is with the command decision – the politics and subsequent political arguments of war. But in typical prog fashion, reflecting a profound disrespect for the military members who carry out orders, he questions the tip of the spear for the decision of the spear thrower.
“Disparate Impact” is also the same federal EEO policy now being extended toward school punishment for anti-social behavior, unlawful conduct, and rule breaking. WASHINGTON DC – Education experts decried a new memo from the Departments of Justice and Education that instructs public schools throughout the country to cease punishing disruptive students if they fall into certain racial categories, such as black or Hispanic.
The letter, released on Wednesday, states that it is a violation of federal law for schools to punish certain races more than others, even if those punishments stem from completely neutral rules. For example, equal numbers of black students and white students should be punished for tardiness, even if black students are more often tardy than white students.
Here is the relevant section of the letter:
“Schools also violate Federal law when they evenhandedly implement facially neutral policies and practices that, although not adopted with the intent to discriminate, nonetheless have an unjustified effect of discriminating against students on the basis of race.
We knew early last week this was going to be a divisive discussion because the inherent reality is stark and uncomfortable.
From what can be gathered from follow-up media reports the “mother” was 14 when the child was born (she is now 16). The toddler was once injured with shrapnel during a drive by shooting, as the mother was also shot in the stomach. The child’s father was killed by a rival gang at the age of 17.
Child protective services, has been involved on more than one occasion with this family, and as a result of this video, and subsequent investigation, removed four children from the home. Trayvon Martin family attorney, Natalie Jackson, blames the police. This exchange with CNN’s Don Lemon is worth watching:
Update details at bottom – Facing increased scrutiny the Charlottesville Virginia Police apologize for not investigating and dragging their feet for over three weeks.
Why the reversal?….
….Because facing increasing pressure from social media discoveries, the two thugs, Richard Bernard Spears and Malcom James Stevenson, walk into a police station and turn themselves in. The police didn’t really have a choice after that happened. (more…)
For over three years we have been tracking this new federal protocol of qualifying school punishment for misbehavior around the race of the offender. The origin of the approach actually stems from Miami-Dade, Florida, and a diversionary tolerance program initiated by School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.
Carvalho is a close ally, and political affiliate, of both Barack and Michelle Obama. Carvalho also turned down a position inside the Dept of Education which would have placed him second only to Education Secretary Arnie Duncan.
Carvalho’s program within the Miami-Dade school district actually preceded the Executive Order given by Barack Obama which initiated the new DOJ directives around “Disparate Impact”, establishing the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans. Effectively placing “quotas” on school discipline based on race.
It was also Carvalho’s widely heralded program which led to the Miami-Dade School Police Department putting Trayvon Martin into diversionary programs using School Discipline to replace Criminal Justice in an effort to avoid a criminal record. (more…)
Sunlight is indeed the BEST disinfectant. Previously the Rochester Police Department stated:
“Rochester Police Department Sgt. Elena Correia told Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle newspaper that she DOES NOT consider the incident an assault, but rather a “simple case of harassment”! (link)
The Daily Caller News Foundation followed up with Correia. “At this time there are no updates,” she said.
“Based on the video itself and on New York penal law, it constitutes harassment.”
The DCNF asked Correia if investigators saw that “True Goon” had hit the woman with his fist.
“Yes, we saw that,” she said, but clarified that an assault charge would require the victim to suffer “substantial pain”. (link)
WASHINGTON DC – In a brief speech on the House floor about safety nets that touches on all manner of government assistance, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee suggested that the term “welfare” is no longer politically correct, and like all masters of doublespeak, wants Congress to change its name to a “transitional living fund.”
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) hailed the war on poverty, endorsed government welfare programs, and said the “safety net has to be something for all of us.”
“Maybe the word welfare should be changed to something of, ‘a transitional living fund.’ For that is what it is — for people to be able to live,” she said. (link)
