It is remarkable how laser focused people tend to be around Libya and Hillary Clinton. The focus is almost exclusively on the Benghazi attack which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
The Benghazi attack which occurred on Sept 11, 2012, was a symptom of foreign policy failure; the actual cause of the policy failure happened a full year-and-a-half earlier in February 2011.

Part Two – An Administration Desperate To Catch Up

Against two weeks of silence in February 2011, and a fawning U.S. media beginning to doubt their own beliefs in the administration, the White House begins damage control for their earlier detachment.
When Susan Rice skipped a Feb 25, 2011 emergency weekend U.N. Security Council meeting, the Obama administration was compromised in their ability to influence any real outcome in Libya.
Without the U.S. seated at the policy table the U.N. made two strategic resolutions/decisions which were brutally short-sighted.

The first mistake was a resolution banning the sale or transfer of arms or weaponry into Libya during the civil war.   On it’s face the ban might sound like a generally good idea;  however, in reality it was exceptionally self-defeating.   After all, it banned all weapons from entering Libya, including weapons for the opposition – which most thought would be needed for the “rebels” to defend themselves.

The second mistake was criminal charges brought about by the ICC (International Criminal Court) against the Kaddaffi regime.   Nothing tells a dictator to double down on his position like telling him you as soon as this is over we will lock you and your family up for life.

Essentially those charges filed by the ICC solidified the certainty that Kaddaffi would never compromise.   He was drawn to a bold position that either he would win the civil war, or he would die trying.    Losing the war would mean death or a life in prison – one of these was now certain.   So what did Kaddaffi have to lose by fighting?

This Security Council resolution highlights the emotional short-sighted outcome of most U.N. determinations.   However, historically the U.S. has tempered logic to the 6 nation table of stupidity.   But not this time.    This time, at the specific direction of President Obama and his policy team, the U.S. did not even participate. PART ONE – The Origin Of The Libyan Crisis

President Obama lit the fuse on the Egyptian collapse, and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, when he turned his visible back on Egypt’s former President Mubarak.
With Mubarak out of the way the law banning the political party of the Muslim Brotherhood was removed.   The Brotherhood members held in Egyptian jails were freed.  This included Muhamed al-Zawahiri, the brother of al-Qaeda’s #1 man Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Initially there was great hope for a politically democratic approach toward Egypt.  However, by the time the FaceBook crowd was dispatched, CBS’s Lara Logan raped in Tahir Square and the visible rise of the hardline Islamists taking control – Egypt became a political risk of policy failure for the Obama administration.
 
Egypt and Libya share a very long and very porous border.  There is little to no actual impediment to the border itself so travelers can easily go from Western Egypt into Eastern Libya with as much ease as one travelling from Pennsylvania to New Jersey.   (more…)

One odd incident might lend a person to ignore completely.  Like a flu that results in a slip n fall, which results in a concussion, which results in a “blood clot”…. all happening just before you are scheduled to testify before a congressional committee on Benghazi that might just contain questions that would destroy your carefully controlled career.

Two mysterious incidents, meh, maybe a little more attention.  Like, well, a fire that breaks out above your office in the State Department, and only above YOUR office – During the Thanksgiving holiday when no-one is around.

November 2012 – ….. an unusual fire breaks out, on a long holiday weekend, in the State Department building, in Washington DC, on the Seventh Floor [Office of the Secretary of State], and Eighth Floor [State Reception and only Public Tour venue] ……  You just can’t make this stuff up.  (link)

The Benghazi Slaughter was a mere symptom of the failed Libyan policy.   Does anyone remember R2P?    I had previously written:  Beyond a wholesome discipline this is the biggest issue just sitting there and all our representatives totally ignore it.

• 1.)  The nineteen days of Obama silence ?    Nothing.
• 2.)  The State Dept contracted/hired an evacuation ship in Tripoli – Broken down and no-way to evacuate our personell ?   Nothing.
• 3.)  In the height of Libyan *civil war* (battle) we could not get Americans out ?  Nothing.
• 4.)  We didn’t even know the ideology of “the rebels” – yet we armed them ?   Nothing.
• 5.)  Libyan Justice Minister Mustafa Abdel Jalil – known al-Qaeda operative ? Nothing.
• 6.)  Susan Rice (as U.N. Ambassador) skips emergency U.N. Security council meeting ?  Nothing.
• 7.)   Libya’s WMD (known stockpiles of mustard gas) ?   Nothing.
• 8.)   20,000 SAAM and Stinger Missiles disappear ?   Nothing.
• 9.)   Eventually Obama invokes use of  War Powers Act – But after 30 days the law requires a congressional vote ?   Nothing.
• 10)  White House own OLC (Office of Legal Council) notifies him he is defying law ?  Yet, again – Nothing.
• 11)  Clinton and Sarkozy meetings to coordinate NATO attack ?   Since when is State Dept in charge of DoD?   Yet, Nothing.

Media discussed Obama/Rice/Powers/Clinton – Responsibility to Protect Doctrine  –  But who had responsibility to protect AMERICANS ?
The real Libyan controversy happened long before a compound in Benghazi was attacked.

By now everyone is well aware of the New York Times article trying to point the blame of responsibility away from al-Qaeda in Benghazi Libya; the attacks on the U.S. compound in Benghazi which led to the death of FOUR Americans.
EVERYONE with a scintilla of intellectual honesty knows the Times Article is pure deflective Pro-Hillary propaganda.
It does not take words to destroy their insufferable claims.

For followers of the Libyan fiasco, and we are not talking about Benghazi, the irony behind Dear Leader and Susan Rice’s recent statements on South Sudan is, well, beyond rich.

[…]  In a letter to Congress, Obama said that about 46 U.S. troops were deployed Saturday to help evacuate Americans. That’s in addition to another 45 troops deployed to reinforce the U.S. Embassy in Juba.

[…]  Earlier Sunday, Obama was briefed by advisers on events in South Sudan following a meeting that his national security adviser, Susan Rice, held with national security aides and U.S. personnel still in South Sudan.

[…]  “I may take further action to support the security of U.S. citizens, personnel, and property, including our Embassy, in South Sudan,” Obama wrote. (link)

I’m just going to cut this down to brass tacks.
The latest international storylines seem to be revolving around chaos reigning supreme in South Sudan.    Over the weekend four members of the U.S. military were shot by machine gun fire as they attempted to evacuate the R2P crowd of U.S. do-gooders.

Fair enough.    But why is the media avoiding the brutally obvious?    Oh yeah, wouldn’t want to actually connect dots and seem all conspiracy minded.
Then again, failure to talk about the 20,000+ missing Libyan missiles, and massive stockpiles of missing WMD (gas et al), does not protect you from the reality of it. (more…)

WASHINGTON DC –  […]  The congressman explained that the lack of air support was clear to all CIA  employees working in Libya because of a 2011 CIA memorandum sent to employees  after NATO forces ended their mission in support of the Libyan revolution.
“It basically told people in Benghazi…if you are attacked, you get your  ‘package’ (the personnel they are charged with protecting) and you get out,” he  said.

A senior intelligence official confirmed that the CIA officers on the ground  in Benghazi responded to the diplomats’ call for help by trying “to rally local  support for the rescue effort and secure heavier weapons.” When it became “clear  that this additional support could not be rapidly obtained,” the team moved  toward the diplomatic compound. The intelligence official spoke on condition of  anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the attack publicly by  name. (more…)

Rare !  Ms. Kuster has actually qualified for the Triple Penguin Award 
New Hampshire Democratic Rep. Ann Kuster clumsily refused to answer a  question on the Benghazi attacks during a recent town hall, frantically looking  to the moderator for assistance instead.
A video uploaded Sunday to Youtube shows the congresswoman reading a prepared  question from a constituent about whether she supports a House resolution authorizing the creation of a select committee to investigate  the September 11, 2012 attacks on a Beghazi consulate, which killed Libyan  ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

(Via Heritage)   Last week’s closed-door testimony by five CIA operatives who witnessed the attack on the U.S. special mission in Benghazi has finally created an opening for the congressional investigating committees.

The five CIA contractors, who testified in closed-door hearings before the House Intelligence Committee Thursday and Friday, were stationed at the “CIA annex” in Benghazi, about one mile from the U.S. special diplomatic mission. This was the facility that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tasked Ambassador Chris Stevens to turn into a permanent consulate, even though security staff there was totally inadequate.
