(Reuters) – Unburdened by re-election worries and empowered by law to act without Congress, U.S. President Barack Obama could will take action to “improve” background checks on gun buyers, ban certain gun imports and bolster oversight of dealers.

Prospects for gun control legislation intensified in the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, as more pro-gun rights lawmakers said on Monday they were open to the possibility while Obama and three cabinet members met at the White House to discuss the subject.

Having just won a second four-year term, Obama does not need to fear alienating voters who favor gun rights and he could press ahead without lawmakers on fronts where federal law enables executive action.

Speaking in Newtown, where a gunman on Friday killed 20 children and six adults in an elementary school, Obama vowed late on Sunday to “use whatever power this office holds” to try to prevent such massacres.  “Because what choice do we have? We can’t accept events like this as routine,” Obama said at Newtown High School.

His administration has the power to issue executive orders or new rules, options that Obama is likely to consider in combination with possible new laws. […] (more…)

Just my own humble opinion, but this constant story 24/7 is wearing thin:  Leave them be.

This is exactly why our founders viewed Democracy as the worst structural form of government – Wal Mart Stores have pulled all Bushmaster .223 rifles from sale.  Dicks Sporting Goods has voluntarily pulled all “modern shooting rifles” from its shelves nationwide,  and all firearms from the State of Connecticut.   In addition Cerebus Capital Management has announced it will sell off the company asset invested in Bushmaster rifle manufacturing.

WASHINGTON DC – The effort will be led by Vice President Biden, according to two people outside the government who have spoken to senior administration officials since Friday, when a gunman killed his mother and rampaged through Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., killing 20 children, six adults and himself.

Obama, who has appeared shaken by the Sandy Hook shootings, met Monday with Biden, who advocated for stricter gun-control measures during his years in the Senate. The president also spoke Monday with Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius “to begin looking at ways the country can respond to the tragedy in Newtown,” according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. If you are a regular reader of this site you are generally a person who engages in intellectual discussion on daily events and more than likely a root cause thinker.  Meaning you are able to grasp events at their cause and not at their consequence.   But for some reason, even those who understand big picture dynamics are still comfortable sticking their heads in the sand about “motive”.   Most people are still clinging to actually beliefs around a principle of ‘rule of law’ that applies to National Leadership.

You’d better change that thinking quickly – or you’ll be asking ‘what happened’ far too late.

There seems to be a willful blindness on the part of the American people, a chosen refusal to acknowledge the implications of the unAmerican and unConstititional behaviors, actions and outcomes we are being served on a daily basis.

It can no longer be presumed to be a matter of “I can’t see what’s happening” because a whole lot of normal Americans really are clean and articulate.

“I can’t see it” just doesn’t cut it.

Naive people continue to state that Gun Control legislation will not pass the Senate or House.   These are the same voices who said “Obamacare is effectively dead”…  short-sighted, and insufferably wrong.   They screamed “70% of Americans do not want Obamacare – That WAS correct but they got it anyway.   The Senate, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi pushed through the Obamacare bill by ridiculously manipulative rule changes and procedural machinations.   Gun Control legislation will be done the same way.   Guns will be banned. 

It does not matter the size of the opposition, the left operates effectively as a minority influence to change and subvert the will of the majority – they always have.   The question of gun control is not “if”, but “when” and to what extreme.   Personally, I believe that only revolvers will be permitted in the eventual allowances, and single bolt-action rifles also.  Everything else will be outlawed.

WASHINGTON DC – With pressure building from Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid opened the door Monday for legislative action on gun control in the wake of the deadly massacre at a Connecticut elementary school last week.

While he said “no one law” or policy can stop a “determined madman,” Reid argued that Washington is “not doing enough” to protect the public from tragic episodes like the one that unfolded in Newtown, Conn. where 20 children and six adults were murdered by an armed assailant. (more…)

This post is less about Trayvon Martin and more about how the media manipulates the public to sell a specific agenda-filled narrative.

From the very beginning the descriptions of Trayvon Martin by his parents did not make sense. Listening to questions of Tracy and Sybrina, and their answers – their responses were often disconnected, contradictory and, well, just odd in their lack of depth.

On example is this early interview with Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon’s mother.   Note this is very early on before the media handler (Ryan Julison) took control of the scripting, and made sure Tracy and Sybrina appeared together.

Another example was about 2 months later when Sybrina travelled to London, England and was questioned again. Even months later, when asked the same or similar general questions, she just never seemed to be able to describe Trayvon.   Very odd. (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – A bill to restrict the use and sale of weapons like the high-powered Bushmaster .223 that coroners said had killed many of the children at Sandy Hook, would be introduced in the next session of the US Congress, promised senior Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein “It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession. Not retroactively but prospectively. And it will ban the same for big clips, drums or strips of more than 10 bullets,” she told NBC News, adding that she expected Mr Obama to support the bill.

The move – which would essentially revive the Bill Clinton-era assault weapons that was allowed to lapse in 2004 – is expected to be highly controversial with the powerful gun lobby and politicians whose constituents cling fiercely to their Second Amendment gun rights. (more…)

WASHINGTON DC – House Speaker John A. Boehner has offered to push any fight over the federal debt limit off for a year, a major concession that would deprive Republicans of leverage in the budget battle but is breathing new life into stalled talks over the year-end “fiscal cliff.”

The offer came Friday, according to people in both parties familiar with the talks, as part of the latest effort by Boehner (R-Ohio) to strike a deal with President Obama to replace more than $500 billion in painful deficit-reduction measures set to take effect in January.

With the national debt already bumping up against the $16.4 trillion cap set last year, Congress risks a government default unless it acts to raise the debt ceiling in the next few months. (more…)

The net is flooding with conspiracy theory about this shooting.   Most of them are total bunk.  However there are major issues with the initial, and evolved reports; and indeed something is not passing the sniff test for me either.   One website has begun collecting a list of all the discrepancies (here).   

We are going to thin it down to the pertinent ones; can you think of any to add to the list?  Starting with…. why the pictures of a 20 year old shooter as a child?   Where’s the recent pics? 

1.)  According to the official story, Adam Lanza was found with his older brother’s ID, and it was not stolen. However, older brother Ryan–who officials say is very cooperative–claims not to have even seen his brother since 2010. Where would Adam get this ID?

2.) According to the official story, Adam Lanza was wearing a black outfit with a mask and bulletproof vest. Why would he want to hide his identity, and why would he wear a bulletproof vest, if he planned to kill himself? (more…)
