Having previously written at length about the Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee’s decision not to release the 911 call tapes, it is perhaps worth explaining what was going on.

The “Scheme Team” used the initial refusal by Chief Lee to make the audio recordings of the 911 calls public part of their “corrupt Sanford Police Dept.” narrative.

For numerous news cycles Benjamin Crump, Daryl Parks, Natalie Jackson and Jasmine Rand beat this drum loudly.   Each of them proclaiming on television appearances that Lee’s decision was evidence of a botched investigation and subsequent cover-up.   But the truth is considerably different.  Indeed it is totally the opposite.

Rut Roh, I think a nation of gun owners is about to get the George Zimmerman treatment from the Dept of Justice.   Next stop?… break out the label makers…. “all gun owners are racist…. and all rights come from government”.

WASHINGTON DC – Attorney General Eric Holder made remarks a short time ago on the tragic school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, where a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six adults. Holder appeared to suggest the country’s gun laws may need to be looked at more closely in the wake of the latest mass shooting.

“As a nation I think we have to ask ourselves some hard questions. We gather too often to talk about these kinds of incidents. We need to discuss who we are as a nation, talk about the freedoms that we have, the rights that we have and how those might be used in a responsible way.

But for now I think we should concentrate on dealing with the situation in Connecticut and we are doing, as I said, the best that we can at the Justice Department and throughout federal law enforcement,” Holder said.  (read more)

MICHIGAN –  A speaker at a union protest against right-to-work legislation said if Gov. Rick Snyder signed the bill he would get “no rest” and that protesters would be at his “daughter’s soccer game.” (threats start at :40 mark).

The Rev. Charles Williams II made the comments Tuesday to loud cheers before a group of thousands of union workers. After his promises to harass Gov. Snyder, he introduced Rep. Richard Hammel, D-Mt. Morris Township, and House Minority Leader Tim Greimel, D-Auburn Hills. Williams is a Detroit-area pastor and left-wing activist.

Gov. Snyder later that day signed a bill into law making Michigan a right-to-work state. One of his daughters is a 16-year-old high school student. (more…)

[liberal/progressive policies and ] public efforts to transform the mental health care system to be more humane, to characterize mentally ill people as “Just thinking differently”, and characterizing mental health care as some form of evil, we now have a system that makes it virtually impossible to get folks like Lanza the care they need.

Deinstitutionalization policies driven by “do good” liberals and the federal government put focus on limited bad acts. Kesey wrote a story based on his LSD induced observations in one VA mental hospital. [One Flew Over The Cukoo’s Nest]   Once his story was put into film, his small example falsely characterized the bulk of mental health care as dehumanizing and made it impossible to force the Lanza’s of the world to get treatment.

According to ABC News, Ryan Lanza, the older brother of 20-year-old Connecticut school massacre perpetrator Adam Lanza, has told police that his brother has Asperger Syndrome and another “personality disorder.” ABC News reports:  Neighbors described the younger man to ABC as “odd” and displaying characteristics associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder. 5:00pm Shooter Adam Lanza (20) identified as killer.  Brother Ryan Lanza (24) being interviewed by police.  Only one person shot was able to survive.  Presumably this would be the Vice-principal.   Nancy Lanza was shooters mother who was also killed.   Shooter armed with Model .223 Bushwacker rifle and two handguns, a Glock and a Sig. *depending on setup the .223 can be an assault style rifle or not.

4:10pm – Shooter confusion.  Two brothers:  Adam aged 20, and Ryan aged 24, have both been outlined as the shooter.   Currently Fox  is reporting the younger brother Adam is the shooter, and the older brother Ryan is in custody in New Jersey.   It is all confused and the media is all over the place.

3:15pm  Obama to give presser soon.    Latest info…. either Adam or Ryan Lanza is the name of the shooter – they are brothers.  The shooter lived in Newtown CT, he drove to New Jersey killed his father, then went to school where his mom was teacher, Killed his mom in classroom, then killed all the kids in classroom – walking away he encountered Principal (shot killed), vice-Principal (shot wounded) and school psychologist (shot killed).   One brother is 20, the other is 24 there are conflicting reports on who is the shooter. Many people are wondering about the *shift* noted in Mark O’Mara’s representation of George Zimmerman. While no one can get inside his head it is possible to listen, understand and objectively review his current position which can aptly be described as: His worst nightmare has come to pass.

Mark O’Mara is representing an innocent man, George Zimmerman; and O’Mara is very uncomfortable with that.  He does not want that responsibility – but that responsibility has found him.

He is not used to this. He never expected this. Nothing, so far, in his legal career has prepared him for this and it is very well summed up from a recent conversation I had with someone who said:

Mark O’Mara will learn far more from George Zimmerman, than George Zimmerman will learn from Mark O’Mara. (more…)

DH had a doctor’s appt about a mile from this mall early this afternoon.   We had intended to shop at the Barnes and Noble store in the mall after the appointment, the B/N is about 100 yards from the Macy’s front door. If we had gone at the time we had available to us, we would have been there.   It’s so stunning to realize that many (like us) were spared even the trauma of being in the vicinity….and others are struggling through the evening hours, unable yet to hear from loved ones or inside the mall yet perhaps in hiding.   The gunman was wearing body armor and a hockey mask.   The police are searching store by store to locate those still frightened and concealing themselves.

Life is fragile, is it not.

OREGON – According to preliminary reports, a man with a semiautomatic rifle opened fire near Macy’s around 3:29 p.m. (Pacific) The man, who may have been wearing body armor and camouflage clothing, also was seen near the mall’s food court.

John Canzano, sports columnist for The Oregonian, reported that as many as 60 shots were fired while he was shopping at the mall.  Canzano said he first noticed people “running out of the mall kind of crying and upset.” He stopped a person who said “somebody has an automatic weapon and is shooting.” (more…)

Uber-Progressive Oregon.   A woman was held at gunpoint by two seven and eleven year old boys.   They held the woman at gunpoint and demanded her phone and cash.   She fled in her truck and the police were on scene quickly to arrest the two boys.  When found one of the boys had a loaded handgun fully cocked in his pocket.    However, by law the police had to let the boys go – they cannot arrest anyone under the age of twelve.

OREGON – A Portland woman says she was scared for her life when an 11-year-old boy and a 7-year-old boy pointed a gun at her and demanded her truck, her phone and her money.

It happened at about noon on Saturday in the parking lot of the Freedom Foursquare Church at 16000 SE Alder St.  Amy Garrett, 22, said she was sitting in her truck, waiting for her parents who were inside the church, when a 7-year-old boy and 11-year-old boy walked up to her.

Garrett said the boys demanded her truck and the 7-year-old told the older boy to “show her your piece.” She said the older boy lifted up his shirt and flashed a handgun. (more…)
