IT STARTS WITH A LIE – William “Billy” Murphy Jr. is the attorney for the Freddie Gray family. He appeared on Fox News with Chris Wallace last Sunday (05/03) answering questions about his financial contributions to Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby.
During his appearance William “Billy” Murphy said he never contributed to Mosby’s campaign. “the contribution didn’t come from me, it came from my son“. (See the video at :56)
However, he was, quite simply, lying.
The records clearly indicate the contributions to the “friends of Marilyn Mosby campaign” came specifically from him. Campaign Donation Verification Link

A William H Murphy III donated $1000.00 to “Mosby, Marilyn Friends of” on 1/05/2014
A William H Muprhy Jr donated $4000.00 to “Mosby, Marilyn Friends of” on 6/20/2014
Shortly after evidence of his contributions surfaced – Murphy seemingly dropped the lie and admitted to the campaign donations. He then appeared on MSNBC (05/06) to discuss the “conflict of interest”.
However, what was not discussed -nor known at the time- was not only did William Murphy give campaign donations, and not only did he assist in her transition team to the State Attorney’s office, but immediately after taking office SA Marilyn Mosby dropped charges against one of Murphy’s clients in State of Maryland VS Jeffrey Bolger (pdf pg 21).
In addition as shown in Exhibit #7 (pdf page 107) Mr. Murphy was actually Marilyn Mosby’s attorney in 2014 for complaint lodged with the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland.

Good grief !! William Murphy Jr. WAS MOSBY’S ATTORNEY in the complaint and response filing.
How can Mosby and Murphy possibly say that a conflict of interest doesn’t exist when just a few months ago Marilyn Mosby was a client of William Murphy Jr.?
Now William “Billy” Murphy represents the family of Freddie Gray who have a vested financial interest (civil action) in the outcome of the decisions made by another of his clients, Marilyn Mosby, in her capacity as Baltimore State Attorney.
• Murphy gave Mosby money for her campaign. • Murphy participated as an advisor on her campaign. • Murphy was part of Mosby’s transition team. • Murphy lied about his contributions. • Murphy then admitted his contributions. • Mosby took office and immediately dropped charges against one of Murphy’s clients. • And Murphy was Mosby’s personal attorney.
What more could the judge possibly need?
