If the earlier reports we shared are accurate Chavez is in a medically induced coma with a respirator to maintain his breathing function due to spinal metasteses of his cancer.   The only reason to keep him *technically* alive is to insure he can pass the date of his inauguration Jan 10th, avert a constitutionally required re-election, and then his appointed replacement will take over.   Here’s the latest:

CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez won’t be able to attend his scheduled swearing-in this week, Venezuela’s government announced Tuesday, confirming suspicions that the leader’s illness will keep him in a Cuban hospital past the key date.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro broke the news in a letter to National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, saying on the recommendation of Chavez’s medical team, his recovery process “should be extended beyond Jan. 10” and for that reason he won’t be able to attend Thursday’s scheduled inauguration.

Maduro said Chavez was invoking a provision in the constitution allowing him to be sworn in before the Supreme Court at a “later date.” Cabello announced he had received the request during a legislative session. (more…)

#1 OK…. Here comes some of those Obama care taxes on Jan 1, 2013. Soon every purchase you make, there will be more taxes. On 103.98 I was charged 8.58 for Texas state taxes. And then Obama care medical tax another 2.39. So the more you spend , the more goes to the “so called free Obama care”.

I am tempted, VERY tempted, to take a trip down to DC and challenge New Jersey, New York Republicans on this issue on camera…..  weighing logistics and timing, but the vote is Friday…..

Chris Christie is not, repeat NOT, a conservative – He is a progressive.   He just wailed, screamed, protested, begged, belittled and held out his tin cup on TV for federal money to bail out New Jersey from Hurricane Sandy.    He continually used the term New Jersey “innocent victims”…  well, exactly what other kind of victim is there?

First, there is a big difference between feeling empathy and sympathy for those in the affected areas, and seeing lives impacted by the overwhelming force of mother nature.  I feel sorry for them to have felt the brunt of such a storm, and now for so many to have to rebuild their lives.   But to watch people begging the federal government to “make them whole” is  the ultimate in-your-face nanny statist expectation.

Since when does the federal government have a role in mitigating risk and underwriting personal decisions? (more…)

Amid actual reports that firearms are scarce to non-existent in many stores, and empty ammo shelves abound both in stores and on-line warehouses, some of the actual statistics begin to surface:

(Reuters) – The number of FBI background checks for U.S. gun purchases set a record in December, as the Connecticut school massacre prompted renewed talk of limits on firearms, according to new FBI data.

The FBI said it recorded 2.8 million background checks during the month, surpassing the record set in November of 2 million checks. The number was up 49 percent over December 2011, when the FBI performed a then-record 1.9 million checks. (article)

Nothing terribly profound to end 2012 or begin 2013 except a nagging feeling sense that so many people we care about just cannot bring themselves to recognize where this all heads. For whatever reason, and I really don’t understand it, it’s like a punch in the gut when you see someone deny, concede, or acquiesce in the comment section.    I find myself of similar perspective to the face in this artwork.

“Denial” plays a key role in the life of a victim, and those who allow themselves the comfort of non-control within victimhood.  I’ll never be comfortable as a victim, regardless how much people demand. (more…)

Obama just had what was possibly the most insulting press event I’ve ever seen from a President — I’ll post the video when available, it will infuriate you.  But force yourself to watch it.

He spiked the football, overtly insulted Republicans and Congress, and laughed that he is on the verge of getting what he wants. Either he wants to nix any deal, or he’s actually just enjoying his victory but is emotionally incapable of being presidential about it. Everything you ever wanted to know about our dysfunctional government was on display.

It is disheartening to continually read, listen to and watch conservatives failing to recognize what is happening right in front of their face. President Obama is rapidly taking us to a place of no return. Some might actually argue we are already there. I would be hard pressed to disagree with them. Consider these facts: (more…)

I see horrifyingly evil “opinions” expressed by fellow Americans every day on Twitter, and in comment sections of  blogs. They don’t just disagree with conservatives – they want us to shut up, lose our jobs,  be financially ruined,  or to drop dead. They actually root for Republicans to die, and when they do die, the ghouls celebrate their deaths.  Not just one or two weirdos  – but huge packs of them.

Originally we wrote this post in March 2012 in response to the continuing crisis that surrounds this administration, and consequently our nation, on a daily basis.

This is, in a larger sense, all purpose driven.

People often talk about and reference Rahm Emanuel’s famous quote: “never let a good crisis go to waste“;   But fewer people actually connect those words to the ideology behind them.

Fabian Socialists became modern Progressives, and comfort in crisis is essential to their goals. Crisis becomes the “new normal” in the world of anyone, or any nation, as they suffer the impact from association with progressives.

When you understand it, you understand what Candidate Obama meant when he proclaimed: “we are 3 days away from the fundamental transformation of America“!

Yesterday, on Meet The Press, President Obama used the word “fundamental” again.

“Something fundamental in America has to change,” said Obama, who visited on December 16 with families of victims of the Newtown, Connecticut, school shootings.  (link)

Well here’s another one – Obamacare Pre-Existing Condition Fee To Cost Companies $63 Per Person – Your medical plan is facing an unexpected expense, so you probably are, too. It’s a new, $63-per-head fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions under President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.

The charge, buried in a recent regulation, works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest companies, employers say. Most of that is likely to be passed on to workers.

Employee benefits lawyer Chantel Sheaks calls it a “sleeper issue” with significant financial consequences, particularly for large employers.

“Especially at a time when we are facing economic uncertainty, (companies will) be hit with a multi-million dollar assessment without getting anything back for it,” said Sheaks, a principal at Buck Consultants, a Xerox subsidiary.

Based on figures provided in the regulation, employer and individual health plans covering an estimated 190 million Americans could owe the per-person fee. (more…)

On Thursday President Obama called Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood President, Morsi.   He didn’t call to scold Morsi for his insufferable power grab.  He didn’t call to correct Morsi for taking over the judicary, and ignoring the minority voice by implementing Sharia Law despite the opposition coalition.

Obama didn’t call Morsi to reprimand him for brutalizing freedom principles.  No, instead he called to tell Morsi the street protests don’t look good, and are fodder for ridicule toward the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton.

So what does Morsi do TODAY  do in response to Obama’s concerns?

Struggling to subdue continuing street protests, the government of President Mohamed Morsi has approved legislation reimposing martial law by calling on the armed forces to keep order and authorizing soldiers to arrest civilians, Egypt’s state media reported on Saturday.  (link)
