Financial Times – Abercrombie & Fitch said it would close 40 to 50 stores in the US this year as the youth fashion retailer’s shares tumbled following weak sales in the crucial Christmas quarter.

“The earnings report was just one big giant pool of negativity,” said Brian Sozzi, chief equities analyst at NBG Productions. “Sales did not meet expectations, particularly in its international segment, and the company offered cautious comments on its first-quarter outlook. This is just something the market did not want to hear.”  (link)

Last year we wrote several articles about Darden Restuarants owners of Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse.  Specifically, how their progressive ideology disconnects them from business sense.   At the time we spotlighted a few specific examples from their ideological organization, and flawed business model.  We penned:

Jonathan Karl is out there saying, “Well, we’re gonna spend $15 billion more.

“The public isn’t gonna really feel this.” Over here, elsewhere at ABC, the full monty, babe, full scare tactic, 100% fearmonger, 57 terrible consequences. “Air travel disruption. Longer security lines at airports. Slower extreme weather forecasts.” Slower extreme weather forecasts? “Greater risk of wildfires.” A greater risk of wildfires because the federal government is only spending $15 billion more than it spent last year? For the same reason the media was forbidden from showing the truth about Trayvon Martin’s can of watermelon juice, a New York City grocery store is forbidden from using Obama’s face with advertising for Chicken – Politically Incorrect.

New York – An Upper West Side Whole Foods has removed a sign that used a drawing of President Barack Obama to advertise a sale on chicken after complaints that the ad was offensive.

The sign outside the supermarket on Columbus Avenue and 97th Street featuring an apparent caricature of Obama advertising an upcoming sale on whole organic chicken outraged neighbor Woody Henderson. (more…)

For the same reason it is unlawful NOT to hire illegal immigrants, the Obama administration is now claiming it is unlawful not to hire criminals.

When you pre-screen job applicants based on legal work eligibility status you are adversely impacting job seekers based on race/origin/nationality (disparate impact), a federally protected category.  So too, when you pre-screen eligibility based on criminal record you adversely impact blacks.

Not hiring someone because they are illegally in the United States is unlawful by EEOC standards. They are applying the same logic to criminals.

WASHINGTON DC – Criminal background checks have become all the rage in Washington, D.C., as politicians scramble to try to ensure that anyone who ever even thought of owning a gun is subjected to a thorough electronic proctology exam.

However, one group that appears immune to background check fever are the ever helpful Obama officials at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

The EEOC and OFCCP have each determined that employers who use background checks as one of the determinants of whether to hire a prospective employee may be engaging in prohibited discrimination. (more…)

WISCONSIN – The University of Wisconsin Duluth-Superior is standing by a controversial campaign launched in 2012 to increase public awareness about racial favoritism by writing “unfair” on students’ faces along with a variety of grievances supposedly shared by minorities against Caucasians.

The university released a statement last week defending the project and saying that the campaign is prepare to enter its second phase. (more…)

FUN FACT – The last actual federal budget passed into law was signed September of 2007, for fiscal year 2008, by George W. Bush.   Not a single day of President Obama’s presidency has included any federal budgetary restrictions.  Not.One.Day. 

Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., indicated that Senate Democrats would renege on their promise to pass the first budget in four years if Republicans did not agree to raise taxes in order to avert the automatic spending cuts mandated by sequestration.

“Senator Murray is working on a budget right now and we hope we can get that done,” Reed said on CNN, referring to Senate Budget Committee chairman Patty Murray, D-Wash. “But we need time. So the sequestration will prevent — preempt us from getting a budget done and other factors.”

Guns Save Lives)   In this short video from the NRA, an internal Justice Department (the same Justice Department ran by Eric ‘Fast and Furious’ Holder), it is revealed that the Obama administrations own research shows that an assault weapons ban would only be effective with mandatory gun confiscation and that universal background checks would only be effective with federal gun registration.

Still think grandfathering existing weapons and simple universal background checks sounds like a good idea? Make no mistake, an assault weapons ban of any kind, even with a grandfathering clause is a step towards gun confiscation. Also realize that universal background checks are just the first step the government needs in implementing a federal gun registration, and as history has shown us, federal registration almost always leads to confiscation.
