Good morning, y’all – once again it’s Friday-eve and this afternoon will kick off an event that one doesn’t get to go to just every day! Should you happen to be driving along Interstate 20 this week-end stop off in Sweetwater, TX, for the annual World’s Largest Rattlesnake Roundup. There will be plenty to do, lots to eat, souvenirs to be had – and if you’re up to it, you yourself can go hunt these (faster than they look) critters! (more…)
Good morning, y’all, and happy Texas Independence Day! Today marks the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico, our esteemed neighbor just a stone’s throw south of here. 1836 was a tough but glorious year for the pioneers of the lone star state and a skirmish or two from that time managed to get mentioned in our history books afterward (obviously before liberal socialists took over the education system and started re-writing history to suit themselves and include the teaching of Arabic to Texas students, but I digress!) Many of Texas’ towns, cities, and counties are named after the heroes of that era and my personal favorite came from the great Volunteer State of Tennessee. (more…)
Good Morning, loyal citizens of the treehouse! It is another Monday, we begin the work week once again. And while some of you are digesting this fact along with the morning coffee be aware that some of you have already ruined a perfectly awful Monday…..it’s also Valentine’s Day (cue horror movie music here!) and YOU FORGOT!! There are many ways to drag this one back out of the ditch, however. Guys, you can stop at the dollar store on the way home and get one of those heart shaped boxes of little rock-hard pseudo chocolate things for your beloved to break a tooth on. (THAT’ll cost ya, oh yeah!!). Ladies, at the same dollar store you can buy your guy one of those cute little valentine thong things in extra small. It will get his attention! So today let us tell some of our stories…you know, how we met our beloved – or, how-the-worst-date-I-ever-had turned out. Along with the daily/breaking news, of course!
