When the politically correct media quickly drop this story we miss an opportunity to discuss one of the inconvenient truths. Because the shooter is black there will be no public airing of ‘the motive’ for the shooting.
If the shooter had presented as a white male the media would be urgently seeking attachment to right-wing extremism and/or the Tea Party.
The historical evidence to support this controversial assertion was polished to crystal clear resonance in the Colorado Movie Theater shooting and subsequent *media-thirst* to attach white intent. The same media ideology toward white motive was present in the 2010 Gabby Giffords shooting.
Victim: Brianna (21) – Shooter: Darion (19) – Victim: Tyler (25)
But this time the search for motive would involve a black male teenager who appears to have been reacting to spurned romantic advances. Reacting in a very uncomfortable way to discuss in the media. Reacting in a way the media desperately avoids talking about.
The first victim shot was a white female, Brianna Benlolo – age 21 and mother of a 2 year-old son, who has been reported to have broken off a relationship with the shooter, Darion Aguilar – age 19.
The second victim shot was Tyler Johnson – age 25, who, according to local media was in a relationship with Ms. Benlolo.
The only other direct victim was the shooter himself who committed suicide after shooting Brianna and Tyler.
{FULL STOP}
While the media might want to portray the incident as a “mass casuality event” the facts are exactly the opposite. Only one other person was injured by the weapon used, a shotgun, as they were hit by collateral shrapnel (a stray pellet). Four others sustained injury from the insuing panic to escape:
Five other people were hurt in the attack and its aftermath, but only one was hit by gunfire. All were released from hospitals by Saturday evening, police said.
You see, this was NOT a mass shooting. This was a specific shooting to murder specific people. Once their murder was complete suicide came next. “Murder/Suicide” was the actual descriptive not “mass mall shooting”.
The social media profile(s) for Brianna Benlolo have been quickly shut down.
However, there are a few snippets floating around the web which, when combined with the known details, begin to present a common picture.
An uncomfortable picture.
A picture which reflects an all too common reality for motive: For a white girl to get into a relationship with a black male teenager it may be easier getting in than getting out.
