And the media….. (((crickets)))
Let me tell you what the “real” long, and short-term, goal of the Fabian Socialist progressives is. The economy, right now, is naturally about to seriously contract. All of the signs are there: Wal-Mart is reporting massive drops in same store sales, restaurants are reporting the same, durable goods orders are the lowest in decades, Obamacare is forcing restructuring and lay-offs of small and medium-sized business payrolls. Etc…. etc.
All of the KPI indicators, including the revised 3rd and 4th qtr GDP numbers point to a new recession – it just has not been quantified yet. But.It.Is.Here.
This is known to economists and the White House. What President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are doing is creating an argument to deflect attention from their failed economic policy – They are going to use the faux sequester impact to deflect away, and explain, their new recession. That is the current strategy and the overarching goal; Avoidance for the consequences of their creation. Make it look like it’s the other guys fault.
Having failed to pass a budget in over 1,400 days (and counting) the Harry Reid Senate decided to focus on passing sequester avoidance bills. However, two more bills failed in the senate this afternoon. Nice work, Democrats. Speaker.gov reported:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement after the Democratic-controlled Senate failed to pass legislation replacing President Obama’s sequester:
“It’s embarrassing that after 15 months Senate Democrats still haven’t passed a single sequester replacement bill. The American people deserve better.
Republicans in the House passed legislation almost a year ago in May, and again in December, to avert the president’s sequester and help put us on a path to a balanced budget. Now that today’s political stunt to raise taxes has failed, it’s time for the president and Senate Democrats to do the hard work that is necessary to pass a bill in the Senate so we can begin to resolve this issue.”
Meanwhile POTUS says He Can’t Get A Budget Put Together – – President Obama’s budget will probably be released in March, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Thursday, but has been delayed in part by “manufactured crises” including sequestration.
“The series of manufactured crises around budget issues, certainly has resulted at least in part in those experts in the administration who work on those issues having to spend a lot of time dealing with those crises rather than on that,” Carney said during his daily briefing. “But that’s part of the job and they’re working on the budget.”
By law, presidents are required to release their budgets on the first Monday in February, but it was clear before then that Obama’s budget would be late. There were expectations from Capitol Hill that the budget would arrive by the end of the month, but with Thursday ending the month, it’s clear that won’t happen.
Obama has delivered his budget on time just once, in 2010. (read more)
