(Deadline.com)…Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The networkâs website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed âthat Eastwood is indeed the mystery speakerâ. Thursday nightâs line-up has a âTo Be Announcedâ speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwoodâs name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. âNow more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, Iâm going to be voting for him,â the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, heâs going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwoodâs latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.
