I’ve been gone for a few days, travelling a bit and meeting lots of new people – not my forte, may I add, but I’ve been very encouraged by what I heard, saw, and the conversations had with said unknown folks – including members of the the everpresent Texas Highway Patrol, who I might add do an excellent job in preserving our freedoms and safety and I will donate to their next function. Ahem.
When travelling east we normally stop in a Podunk, TX town for one of the best steaks you’ll ever sink your teeth into. Mostly an agricultural community these days, the residents are salt-of-the-earth, fly-over country types. They all know each other and
the conversation is easy. Anyway, the day we stopped in Podunk for lunch a granddad came in with his teenage granddaughter and sat behind us; they’d been out shooting and were discussing the teen’s results – which were very good. Granddad was teaching her to shoot to kill and proceeded to fill out for her what was going
on in our country right now. The jist – he told her “most of them will come from the cities, looking to loot and kill, and you cannot hesitate. You will have to knock down as many of them as you’re able.”
Flash forward into the next great state of Louisiana. We’re at the function we came to attend, eating a mixture of Cajun and TexMex foods and a nice lady sat down with me and started talking (which is normal). Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I was always taught that when in polite company, one does not bring up religion or politics. This chick did. Immediately. I guess it was apparent that we were from ‘over the border’ in Tejas so she starts with the Rick Perry questions. She’s an admirer so I, being the soul of politeness, tell her Texans like Bobby Jindal, too. Which we do. To make an extremely long story short this lady is a lifelong demoncrat – she grabbed me by both arms and said “we have to vote this monster in the WH out.” This is the first demoncrat that I can recall that has touched my person in some time…but you get the drift.
America is awake. I heard Her talking the whole way and I’m so happy to report it! We The People, y’all – we’re still out there! There IS ‘Hope’ – and hopefully, ‘Change’ coming.
