Farewell Dear Friend…

jordan2222Treepers, it is with a heavy heart we note the passing of a long time Treeper Jordan2222 (formerly Jordan2).

We recently found out our cyber friend passed away last month. Originally joining the CTH community as “Jordan2” (in April 2012 during the George Zimmerman case research) Jordan2 evolved into “Jordan2222” for the last few years. His real name was Wayne and he joined us during his own research into the media narrative surrounding the Tryavon Martin shooting.

Jordan2222/Wayne was a stickler for detail and he quickly found a branch to watch -and participate in- the crowdsourcing research. Wayne walked along with us throughout the case and through a great many discoveries in the years that followed.   Along the journey  he made a great many Treeper friends.

During a conversation in December of 2012 Jordan wrote the following comment:

As he was prone to do, Jordan inspired a very lengthy response explaining the essential character of the Treehouse journey itself. ~ Read Here ~ In the conversation that ensued you can see Jordan’s perspective, his personality, and how warmly he cared for his family.

We are very sad to hear of his passing; our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. (more…)

Wow Cool, and Yet, Wow Creepy – Technological Image Extraction From Reflected Eyeball Imaging Yields Ability of 80% Human ID Accuracy…

This is an amazing and profoundly creepy technological study of human capability when aligned with image capture advancement. In essence photo scientists are able to retrieve the mirrored images from the eyeballs human subjects being photographed. When these images are then viewed by people familiar with the captured reflection, humans are able to identify who is in the images with around 80% accuracy.
Forensic investigators can data mine the reflected images in the eyeballs of photographed people to identify location, geography and other people in view of the person being photographed.
pixel eye 2(Plos.org) Cameras are routinely seized as evidence during criminal investigations [1]. Images of people retrieved from these cameras may be used to piece together networks of associates, or to link individuals to particular locations.
In particular, it may be desirable to identify the photographer, or other individuals who were present at the scene but were not directly captured in the photograph. Bystander identification may be especially important when the images record criminal activity, as when hostage takers or child sex abusers photograph their victims [2] [3].
Previous psychological research has established that humans can identify faces from extremely poor quality images, when they are familiar with the faces concerned [4][7]. For example, Yip & Sinha [7] found that viewers could identify blurred photographs of familiar faces with equivalent image resolutions as low as 7×10 pixels (see Figure 1).

Guidelines For Comments

“Seek first to understand, then to be understood”.

treehouse21.) First, please READ THIS ENTIRE THREAD – and the full context of any discussion thread you wish to participate in. Skipping to the comments to express an opinion without reading the content of the discussion is not helpful. There is a ALWAYS a daily open thread available for any subject you feel should get attention. However, if we are currently investing time in a current case discussion (ex. Zimmerman/Martin, Wilson/Mike Brown, Chambers) DO NOT, post those topics on the Daily Open Thread.
3.) NARROW YOUR THOUGHTS – Quality beats quantity. Construct your comments to target specific areas and not broad generalizations about the discussion topic at hand. If you have four or five disconnected points, break them up into individual comments.

Jessica Lane Chambers Open Discussion Research Thread – And Update On Memorial Flowers…

Thank You For Honoring Jessica Lane Chambers

update-1The dark place where Jessica was attacked will soon light up with expressions of YOUR CARING.  Due to overwhelmingly wonderful response, the Lowes Garden Center in Batesville (near Courtland) has been wiped clean of flowers, plants and mini-trees all purchased for Jessica Lane Chambers.
Logistically, in addition to rounding all of those up, Ashley ( @ashleyryna9 ) is working with a local florist (662-563-7658) to make special wreaths and cut flowers bouquets to join with bears, candles and more to present a loving tribute on behalf of people from coast to coast who refuse to allow her name to be forgotten.
