John Derbyshire Via (vdare.com) […] Mainstream Conservatism, like any other kind of Conservatism, is up against a very formidable foe. Because of my own professional background as a systems analyst, I think of that foe as “the installed base.”
Imagine you are hired in with a team of computer specialists to give a bank a computerized system for running its books. The job would be pretty easy if you could start from scratch, with a bank that had nothing but paper record-keeping—or better still, with a new-founded bank that had no established system of record-keeping at all.
Unfortunately things are rarely like that. The bank you are contracted to already has a computer system. It’s been in use for years, and it’s a mess. The databases are festooned with redundancies and contradictions, the code is unreadable, and the users have to do time-wasting work-arounds to deal with all the anomalies.
Everyone’s used to this creaking, leaking old system, though, and comfortable with it. They know its faults, but they know how to cope with them, like an old married couple. They resent you coming in and imposing new methods on them. (more…)

WE ARE THE MAJORITY
If yesterday’s court decision makes no sense to you… Good! You are among those of us who thought that American liberty was protected by the Constitution. The Constitution tells the Federal Government what power it is ALLOWED to have. Progs see the Constitution as little more than an obstacle in their lust for power in creating a collective society. They have worked tirelessly for the last century to slowly make it irrelevant. Yesterday, they took a giant leap forward in building the very government our Founding Fathers tried to protect us from when they gave us our Constitution.
WASHINGTON DC – Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign has raised $5.5 million since the Supreme Court ruled that President Obama’s healthcare law is constitutional.
Romney started raising funds immediately after the decision, and in a message to supporters Friday morning his campaign spokeswoman said he had raised $5.5 million from 55,000 donations.
“As of this morning, we have raised $4.3 million with 43,000 donations online,” spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. And the funds continue to come in…. (more…)
I’m going to stick this to the top of the page until we begin to track election recall results later this evening. Polls in Wisconsin close at 9:00pm Eastern time.
The biggest potential issue is Wisconsin voting law which allows for Same Day Voter Registration and Voting; which, as you know, has historically been a method to manipulate votes.

I am beyond thrilled to write this post and share some wonderful news.
Deb Fischer has won the primary contest in Nebraska. “Who”? you say EXACTLY.
Deb Fischer worked her butt off traveling all over the state of Nebraska to get her message out and name recognized, but it was an uphill challenge. Having done everything she could, and feeling the support of many, she was still long on principle and short on recognition. Fischer reached out to Sarah Palin, and Palin enthusiastically endorsed her with a 134 word Facebook note and request for help. It worked.
The Republican cocktail class and crustless sandwich establishment had their chosen candidate in Attorney General Jon Bruning. The Decepticons co-opted the Tea Party Express with a faux-conservative candidate Don Stenburg. But true conservatives saw through the Stenburg optic. Each of Fischer’s opponents spent over $3 million on their race and lost.
Deb Fisher received 41 percent of the vote, Bruning 36 percent and Stenberg 19 percent.

(Indy Star) — Sen. Richard Lugar’s 36-year Senate career is now history. The Associated Press called the race for Mourdock about 7:45 p.m. Lugar was defeated in today’s Republican primary election by Treasurer Richard Mourdock, ending his bid for a seventh term in the U.S. Senate.
Mourdock will face Democrat U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly and Libertarian Andy Horning in the November election.
Lugar is an Indiana icon who has influenced everything from the political makeup of Indianapolis to global nuclear proliferation. As mayor of Indianapolis, he led the effort to create Unigov, combining city and county government. And as the GOP leader in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee he’s played a lead role in combatting the spread of nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union. (more…)
