It was sad to see Jim DeMint leave the Senate earlier this year. However, it is wonderful to see Freshman Senator Ted Cruz strike fear into the heart of liberals.
They are freaking out at his direct confrontational approach to their ideology.
However, with such fear will come a massive onslaught of attacks against him by the progressive left and the institutional media.
First the back story. In September of 2010, before we assembled our Last Refuge of patriots, I wrote an article -a warning of sorts- for constitutional patriots assembled at iOTW about the danger of Karl Rove:
Karl was president of the National College Republicans and has been entrenched with the concentric circles of the Decipticons since his high school/college days, trying to work his entire career into the middle where the sandwiches have no crust, waiters pour bottled water table side, and thin suave fellas place a linen napkin atop your lap for you.
He was a rough, modest kid outsider who wanted in. Desperately wanted in, so he sought approval at every corner. He mastered all things politic. He studied books, attended speeches, joined campaigns and would cross the country without sleep just to enter the room before the cigar smoke cleared and catch a glimpse or snippet of the Decepticon meeting. WASHINGTON DC – Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) made no effort to hide the fact that he believes the Democratic agenda is radical, comparing members of the party to Socialists and Marxists over the weekend.
Johnson lamented President Barack Obama’s reelection with fellow Republicans in a speech on Saturday night in Johnson Creek, Wis., calling it a “body blow to freedom.” He then described what “people who like freedom” — people such as himself — were up against.
“We are up against a strategy that is taking place by liberals, progressives, Democrats, whatever they call themselves nowadays, Socialists, Marxists,” Johnson continued, according to the Daily Jefferson County Union. “We are up against a strategy that has taken place for about a hundred years. Diabolically simple. It’s simply this: A big American government. The problem with that is far too many Americans have bought into that.” (more…)
I’m not sure who this guy is, but y’all need to listen to the way he frames the conversation. Finally someone puts the argument into perspective, AND as a bonus he hits on the law enforcement “affirmative responsibility” aspect to deconstruct the liberal fallacy.
From Yankeeintx – I just returned from the Chris Kyle Memorial Service. It was an incredible send off to an incredible American hero. The service introduced us all to the real Chris Kyle. When his wife read a message, she started with “Chris always used to tell me that if your brain can think it, then your body can do it”, and said she was counting on that to be true today. She read a letter to her kids “what your dad would want you to know”, and there wasn’t a dry eye anywhere. I don’t know how she found the strength.
I didn’t realize until today that Chris donated the earnings from his book to the families of other Navy Seals that lost their lives. Joe Nichols sang “The Impossible”, Randy Travis sang “Amazing Grace”. Very touching service, very respectful, very patriotic. (more…)
Lots of folks are praising Lindsey Graham for his stance about Benghazi. However, it is prudent to remember he has been a face of manipulated optical opposition before. I don’t trust Graham, and this could well be just another decepticon angle to keep the patriots away from the gates as they look back yelling “we got this”. They don’t want you, me, or anyone, looking over the wall or beyond the gate.
WASHINGTON DC – Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on CBS News’ Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer on Sunday where he pledged to try to block the nominations of both Chuck Hagel and John Brennan in an effort to get more information about the 2012 attack on an American consulate in Benghazi out of President Barack Obama.
Graham told Schieffer that he thought it was unfortunate that Obama did not place a personal call to officials in the Libyan government on the evening of September 11, 2012, when an American consulate in Libya was overrun by militants. (more…)
(ht WeaselZippers) The Department of Homeland Security’s civil rights watchdog has concluded that travelers along the nation’s borders may have their electronics seized and the contents of those devices examined for any reason whatsoever — all in the name of national security.
The DHS, which secures the nation’s border, in 2009 announced that it would conduct a “Civil Liberties Impact Assessment” of its suspicionless search-and-seizure policy pertaining to electronic devices “within 120 days.” More than three years later, the DHS office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties published a two-page executive summary of its findings. …. President Obama was forced this morning to sit stoically at the National Prayer Breakfast while a world-renown pediatric surgeon who dragged himself up from poverty recounted his story, espousing conservative values and policies as a means of healing the nation and its poor. (link)
There is no reason to go into a long explanation of how this just becomes further evidence of the *true ideology* of the far left. It just is. The least they could do is ask you to show some form of ID before they killed you.
White House: “Legal, Ethical and Wise”…
WASHINGTON — Obama administration lawyers have asserted that it would be lawful to kill a United States citizen if “an informed, high-level official” of the government decided that the target was a ranking figure in Al Qaeda who posed “an imminent threat of violent attack against the United States” and if his capture was not feasible, according to a 16-page document made public on Monday.
The unsigned and undated Justice Department “white paper,” obtained by NBC News, is the most detailed analysis yet to come into public view regarding the Obama legal team’s views about the lawfulness of killing, without a trial, an American citizen who executive branch officials decide is an operational leader of Al Qaeda or one of its allies.
