Tripwire Alert – The RNC, GOPe, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie and Donald Trump…

Today the political landscape just became infinitely more interesting.  In order to understand the current landscape, and simultaneously explain what it means, we must weave in and out of history because this tripwire alert needs reference points.

marco rubio officialAt the most basic of level we must remember candidate Marco Rubio was never supposed to be the GOPe’s standard bearer for the professional republican party.  It simply was not his role.

A single-term, 44-year-old, freshman senator, with a wife, four kids, no accumulated wealth and no executive experience, does not independently mount a long-shot bid to become the chief executive office holder amid the power-elites who run the highest political offices.

Rubio was/is ‘a means’ – to an end.  Rubio does not represent the end goal, he never did.

This is a point we have continually referenced since early 2014. This point surrounds the transparency of motive for a Marco Rubio run for the presidency.   He is, quite simply, the least qualified candidate on the GOPe team.

Rubio was also the most severely non-vetted candidate that could ever enter the race.  – example here – Knowing and accepting that fact, Rubio’s role in the original plan made a lot more sense.

In October 2013 through February 2014 when the constructs were designed, the reason for Rubio’s enlistment was to act as a necessary part of the campaign to deliver the Florida electoral fulcrum, the 99 Florida delegates.  The republican party apparatus changing the primary date and distribution of those delegates (winner-take-all) was the visible second tripping of the Rubio tripwire which evidenced the GOPe roadmap’s validity. Governor Chris Christie Endorses Donald Trump…

lions together

Fort Worth Texas earlier today.

The twittersphere encapsulated the day brilliantly when someone said: “Donald Trump Hires NJ-based Demolition Expert to Finish Troublesome Project”.  That sub-headline is just too good not to share.

Not only did Donald Trump find a way to starve the media oxygen from the best laid schemes of the frat boys running the GOPe “Full Mississippi” attack plan; but somehow Trump simultaneously created an immediate comparison between a serious and strong campaign -vs- a staggeringly overmatched boy Rubio.   Brilliant.  Simply, brilliant.

Bloomberg Analytics Research Shows Donald Trump Positioned To Win Every State in Super Tuesday…

Another statistical affirmation comes from Bloomberg Analysts (full pdf below) who conducted polling of the “Super Tuesday” states and found Donald Trump leading in every contest, every demographic, and every metric in the multiple races.

Donald Trump isn’t just winning, he’s way ahead of Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz – AND even more substantially Trump beats each of them as individuals in head-to-head matchups. It’s not even close – heck, he’s even more supported than Pope Francis:

(Via Bloomberg) […]  An online Bloomberg Politics poll shows the billionaire is backed by 37 percent of likely Republican presidential primary voters in the seven states surveyed, while Senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas are tied at 20 percent.

Trump beats both Rubio and Cruz in hypothetical, one-on-one matchups in the region, weakening the argument that the front-runner’s march toward the nomination would be slowed if it were only a two-man race.

Key State Florida Poll: Donald Trump Crushing Marco Rubio in Home State, Ted Cruz Highest Unfavorables…

When the professional pundits and the chattering class speak of Marco Rubio possibly winning Florida they are completely oblivious to reality.  Floridians have a very specific  disdain for Marco Rubio based on his self-serving backstabbing of his own constituency.  The anger is personal, deep, widespread and will never go away.

Forget Senator Rubio.  Marco Rubio doesn’t stand a chance in Florida, he won’t even carry his own home county because he’s never there.  This latest Quinnipiac poll (full pdf below) merely confirms what is obvious to those who live there and talk to their neighbors.  This sentiment is top of state to bottom, and coast to coast.

However, what is even more amazing than the weakness of Rubio and strength of Trump, is when you ask evangelicals who they would NEVER SUPPORT…. they say, Ted Cruz.  This is absolute affirmation of what we’ve continually pointed out as the non-discussed flaw in Cruz’s overall campaign. (more…)

Rush Limbaugh Goes Full Nutter – The Most Illogical Pretzel Argument Ever Presented…

I know from the comments section many people have discussed how bizarre the recent ravings of Rush Limbaugh have become.  However, I had not spent time listening to them, until this happened.

As far as I can tell this was actually broadcast by Rush Limbaugh yesterday.  To say he’s contracted a viral strain of election cycle cognitive dissonance would be a severe understatement.  Listen to this logic:

If Ted Cruz wants to win he’s got to focus exclusively on attacking Trump.  Why? Because Cruz has to realize Marco Rubio is not going to drop out.  If Rubio is not going to drop out, Rubio is not the obstacle – Trump is…

Texas Poll: Donald Trump 32%, Ted Cruz 32%, Marco Rubio 17%…

A recent Texas poll of 1,531 “registered voters” and 1,293 “likely voters” shows Ted Cruz and Donald Trump essentially tied.  Ted Cruz being more successful in West Texas, and Donald Trump being more successful in North Texas.  If Senator Ted Cruz loses Texas, his candidacy is effectively over – that’s why he’s campaigning in Texas right now.

DALLAS – Six days before Super Tuesday, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are now tied in Texas, according to a new public opinion poll commissioned by WFAA-TV.

Cruz and Trump both had 32 percent support from likely and actual GOP primary voters, with a 3.9 percent margin of error.

It is the most recent survey of Texas voters and the first one to show Cruz no longer leading in his home state.

“He’s fading,” said Cal Jillson, professor of political science at Southern Methodist University, of Ted Cruz’s candidacy. “Trump has proven to be stronger and more resilient than anyone expected.” (more…)

Tripwire Alert – Understanding Why Mitt Romney is Making Ridiculous Claims About Donald Trump’s Taxes….

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney is going “full Mississippi” with claims about Donald Trump’s taxes.  It doesn’t matter that there is no basis for the ridiculous assertions – the truth and/or facts are not what matters when you go “full Mississippi”…. it’s a strategy!

The absolute worst thing Donald Trump could do is to respond to it.  Responding to the provocation is exactly what they want.  Dismiss it like you would swat an annoying gnat.

Mitt Romney – “The reason that I think there’s a bombshell in there is because every time he’s asked about his taxes he dodges and delays and says, ‘Well we’re working on it,'” Romney told Fox News.

“We’re now, you know, in late February and we still haven’t seen either Donald Trump’s or Marco Rubio’s or Ted Cruz’s taxes,” he added, referring to the two US senators challenging Trump for the nomination.

“Frankly the voters have a right to see those tax returns before they decide who our nominee ought to be.” (link)

There is a specific reason why Mitt Romney is saying this.  There is also a specific reason why this specific reason, income taxes, is being used.  Here’s what’s going on. (more…)
