Monday Open Thread – August 29th

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I am politely asking each and every one of you to send this video to 2 people. This is by far the most important video we’ve ever published – out of more than 15,000 – and as soon as you begin watching you will understand exactly why we need to get it in front of millions and millions of Americans. For a variety of reasons this clip resonates with virtually everyone who sees it, and your emails are the conduit.

Al-Qaeda's No. 2 Leader Killed in Pakistan

Al Qaeda’s No. 2 leader, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, has been killed in Pakistan, a U.S. official tells Fox News.  Al-Rahman was a Libyan national who was considered Al Qaeda’s operational leader before rising to the No. 2 spot following Usama bin Laden’s death in May.  Al-Rahman’s death is a big blow to the terrorist group and comes as U.S. officials have said in the aftermath of bin Laden’s killing that a few more high-profile deaths could break Al Qaeda’s back.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, says al-Rahman was killed Aug. 22 in the Pakistani tribal region of Waziristan. That’s the same day a US drone strike in Waziristan.  The Associated Press contributed to this report

SAS leads hunt for Gaddafi

As a £1 million bounty was placed on Gaddafi’s head, soldiers from 22 SAS Regiment began guiding rebel soldiers after being ordered in by David Cameron.
For the first time, defence sources have confirmed that the SAS has been in Libya for several weeks, and played a key role in coordinating the fall of Tripoli.
With the majority of the capital now in rebel hands, the SAS soldiers, who have been dressed in Arab civilian clothing and carrying the same weapons as the rebels, have been ordered to switch their focus to the search for Gaddafi, who has been on the run since his fortified headquarters was captured on Tuesday. Joe Biden says he has been able 'to literally meet every major world leader in the last 38 years'

Vice President Joe Biden may have managed to cure his own stammer but he still appears to be pathologically incapable of speaking of his own accomplishments without exaggerating. In an address he made today to students at Sichuan University in China today (full text, as emailed out by the White House, here), he stated that he has had “an opportunity to literally meet every major world leader in the last 38 years”.
