Make no mistake, this article by Nicholas Kristof is deflective propaganda. The fix is in! The cake is baked! They just need to protect the administration from the sunlight of what is really going on….. Get engaged.
Kristof is advocating for President Obama to “get engaged” in the Syrian conflict “as if” he, Obama, is not the primary driver behind the current regime overthrow. This is political cover and pure propaganda. Kristof writes:
[…] An intervention can always go awry, and there are legitimate concerns about the behavior of Syrian rebels. It is also true that an election year isn’t an ideal time for an intervention, although on this one Obama could work with Republicans to win bipartisan support.
Look, I’m no hawk. I was strongly against the Iraq war and the Afghan surge, and I’m firmly against today’s drift toward war with Iran. But Syria, like Libya, is a rare case where we can take modest steps that stand a good chance of accelerating the fall of a dictator. And after 17 months, there’s growing agreement that Obama should no longer remain a bystander.
We have previously outlined the coordinated approach by both the Obama administration and by Turkish Prime Minister Erdogen. Which is supported by this recent article outlining the increase in weaponry, including US made stinger missiles, provided to the anti-Assad forces:
PRESS TV – Turkish military has provided insurgents fighting against the Syrian government with surface-to-air missiles during a brief incursion into the Syrian soil.
More than 100 Turkish troops backed with armored vehicles and helicopters entered the Syrian border town of Cerablos in the Kurdish region of Kobani on Tuesday.
The contingent of Turkish soldiers, who were armed with thermal rockets and sophisticated weaponry, reportedly left for their bases after an hour.
A spokesman for the Kurdish militias in the border towns of Kobani and Efrin accused the Turkish forces of supplying arms and ammunition to insurgents fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government.
The NBC News also reported on July 31 that nearly two dozen MANPADs (man-portable air-defense systems) have been delivered to the insurgents in Syria by Turkey.
Meanwhile, some reports suggest that anti-government insurgents operating in Aleppo may have been provided with chemical weapons.
The Syrian army launched a mop-up operation against insurgents in the flashpoint city of Aleppo on Wednesday and so far has managed to retake full control of insurgents’ stronghold of Salahuddin.
A large number of insurgents were killed, injured and arrested in the military operation in Salahuddin.
Fighting, however, continues between the Syrian army and the insurgents in several other areas of Aleppo, including the northern neighborhood of Ashrafyiah, the southern district of Sokkari and the central area of Seif al-Dowla.
Foreign-backed armed groups have been conducting terrorist attacks in Aleppo since July 20 after they were defeated in the capital, Damascus, and were forced to flee.
Syria has been the scene of deadly unrest since mid-March, 2011 and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on August 1 that the country is engaged in a ”crucial and heroic” battle that will determine the destiny of the nation.
The anti-Syria Western regimes have been calling for President Assad to step down.
Why is this important? Because the anti-Assad forces are pro-Iran and pro-Hizzbullah that’s why. If Assad is removed the radical elements will control Syria, the Syrian weaponry, the cache’s of Syrian Chemical Weapons, and more importantly they will be the receipients for any nuclear weapon provided by Iran.
As evidenced in this recent interview with Walid Sakariya who calls for Nuclear Weapons being used to “Finish Off The Zionist Empire”…
Following are excerpts from an interview with Hizbullah MP General (ret.) Walid Sakariya, which aired on Al-Manar TV on August 7, 2012:
Walid Sakariya: My analysis is the following: If Iran becomes a nuclear state, the entire equation in the Middle East will change. In such a case, Syria would have to be steadfast – even if a war of attrition is waged against it – in order to accomplish this goal, because this [nuclear] weapon is meant for Syria too, not just for Iran.
The viewers should not interpret this as if Syria is serving an Iranian agenda. This nuclear weapon is meant to create a balance of terror with Israel, to finish off the Zionist enterprise, and to end all Israeli aggression against the Arab nation.
President Obama through Turkey is further destabilizing Israel, and the New York Times is running a distraction campaign to make it appear otherwise. This is dangerous, very dangerous…… tick tock, tick tock….
