Today at 7:30pm President Obama is going to deliver a speech outlining his reasoning for going to war with Libya.   This is the first time he has publicly spoken of it since returning from his trip to Brazil last week.    Previously Hillary Clinton and Secretary Gates have muddied the water with their back and forth attempts at legitimizing the United States  Military intervention which has no benefit to our strategic interests.

Pantsuits has claimed it was a “Humanitarian Intervention” brought on by our “Responsibility to Protect” the Libyan people.   In an interview on Meet the Press she stated it was also necessary as payback for the coalition support of our intervention in Afghanistan.   However, when she stated the request was made of us by the French, Italians, and British, she failed to mention that the French and Italians did NOT support our efforts in Afghanistan and were NOT a part of our the “Bush Coalition” there.

So it will be interesting to see Obama try to manipulate the narrative and frame a justification that, in my opinion, does not exist.   This speech will probably be best known as the ‘Obama Doctrine’ where he outlines his view for global responsibility,  including his affection toward, and willingness to accept participation in, the United Nations mandates.  However, diminished national sovereignty is an immediate consequence.
